3/4 c. butter Directions Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour an 8 in. square baking pan. Set aside. In a stainless steel bowl, set over a saucepan of hot (not boiling) water, combine butter and unsweetened chocolate. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Let cool to room temp. Whisk together sugar and eggs for 1 minute, until pale yellow. Stir in vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate and combine well. In a small bowl, stir together flour and salt. Gently fold flour mixture into chocolate mixture until well-combined. Fold in chopped bittersweet chocolate and chopped pecans. Spoon batter into pan. Bake at 350 F for 40-45 minutes until mixture pulls away from sides of pan but is still soft to the touch in the center. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares, frost if desired and top brownies with pecan halves. *Walnuts are also very good. |
