I have some neighbours that are basically ignorant, they park wherever they like and  let their friends and relatives do the same thing; and have to be told to move their car, they throw garbage in the bins and don't put them in the proper bags, they basically thumb their nose up at the rules; they have kids and teenagers hanging around outside that have tried to hit me with things and have called me names, I spoke to the mother about them;

One of my neighbours is moving because of them; I want to move desperately, but haven't been able to afford to..

I would like to know what to throw on their doorstep to get them to move away.. I dread coming home because they are there, and I am afraid to leave my house because of them..

Would anyone have any suggestions, ideas with this matter, and did you have problem neighbours and how did you tackle it? Thank you Sad

I unfortunately don't have a lot of ideas here (I think there's a "bad neighbors go away" spell or some such in the Cauldron grimoire, but I generally like to suggest mundane action first and I'm not sure what to do in that area), but I did have a quick forum-related note for you...  Could you please not make the text of your posts bold?  Leaving it in the default style makes it much easier for the rest of us to read.  Smiley Thanks!

Since you have spoken to your neighbors about their obnoxiousness, it may be time to call the cops and lodge a complaint.

If you're afraid to 'go it alone', or you don't want to get law enforcement involved because you're worried about retaliation, talk to people surrounding the house and literally gang up on the problem. Form a Homeowner's Association, make some policies and procedures (just be aware - you would have to follow them, too), and make them stick.

Here's a couple of how-to's on HOAs:

I'm a good neighbor, me & my husband are relatively neat & unobtrusive people... but personally, I'm not a fan of HOAs, and here in Nevada they pretty much rule newer home complexes and condo complexes. I refuse to live anywhere that has one, so I know that HOAs can be a fairly good deterrent to bad neighbors.

I don't want to burn candles every night, but making drawings of them moving is very good to me.. The police have been called on them before, they have both as well as the teenage son been in trouble with the law; and still live around here which does not make sense..

I live in a condominum townhouse complex and they are the worst invention in the world,  there are meetings a few times a year...And you have to walk by neighbours that you would rather not live anywhere near..

My neighbour that has her townhouse up for sale is blessed that she can move... I hope to be that prosperous as well and move somewhere more comfortable..

OH I have had  neighbors like that before, we had  some living in the building last  year  on  the 3rd  floor,  the teenage  boys would literally  climb  up the  balconies to get in  the  apartment  cuz  mom  would lock them out! The mom didn't speak a word of  English  so  no one could talk to her  unless  one of the boys  translated to her what  we wanted  so you know she wasn't getting  told the right things. I was never  so happy to see  them move out, they moved to a town house complex where a friend  of mine used to live and  the horror  stories she told me about them are unreal! Seems  people  like this  are all over the place. Hopefully you bad  neighbors  will move out soon!

But most condos have an owners organization.  Go talk to them, and see if there is anything they can do.  You're right, it's a pain when everyone owns their condos, cause it's harder to move them out.  We have a local condo that has some owners and some renters, the condo organiziation takes care of condos for absent owner and handles the renting.  It is possible that these people are renting, in which case, it may be easier to remove them.  But simply being a bad neighbor is not cause to be evicted from your home if you have a mortgage and are making the payments.

The neighbours live 3 doors over, and the woman and her boyfriend and children live there. The teenage son is pretty bad with the friends he associates with.. The woman's father bought the condo townhouse for her years ago.. And I have spoken to management about them and other neighbours have as well reported them..

You would think they would of moved by now with complaints against them..

The only way they will leave it seems is if they are forced out through a large miracle..

My other neighbour that wants to move because of them would be very relieved as well..

I understand why they haven't moved, they have the house, and that is a big thing, she owns it.  Condos are hard to sell, and in this climate, I wouldn't want to be moving unless I had a job waiting for me or I could seriously.  COndos have all the disadvantages of renting and all the disadvantages of owning.

Her father comes by and he has helped her pay the mortgage in the past, I am not sure about now,  and whatever else, so she doesn't own the condo..The father is just as ignorant as her, she learnt from him how to behave..He has parked in other people's parking spaces, knowing that they don't appreciate it..He has been spoken to as well, about the rules in the condominiums which they don't respect..

One time this man literally parked his car in the middle of the road, and no cars could drive by him, that is how ignorant this man is..

Anyway, hopefully these people will move and the neighbours will have more peace of mind.. As well , their rights will no longer be violated by these people that have out stayed their welcome! Wink

I'm just pointing out WHY they probably haven't moved.  And it's harder to remove people that own rather than rent, regardless of their behavior, so long as they continue to pay on time.  On the other hand, there is a condo association. Can the condo association force them to leave for any reason other than failure to pay whatever money the mortgage holder and the condo association require?  I know people in HOA's have lost their houses because they didn't pay the association dues.  But that's not easy to do either, take the house for nonpayment.

mandrina, They have been reported to the condo association for their actions and behavior. I did hear from a neighbour that these people were behind in their condo fees in the past.. and still they remain here..If they are in fact still behind in their fees than they should no longer be allowed to reside in the condo.. It is baffling to me.. But hopefully it will unfold concerning these disobedient neighbours 3 doors over and they will be told to go... Roll Eyes

It takes years and a lot of trouble to evict someone for being in arrears on the condo fees, and if they have managed to avoid forclosure otherwise, but still owe on the HOA fees and are in an iffy financial situation, it's not usually worth the COndo assn's time to forclose for the fees, since other people will get the money first, and the HOA usually doesn't get any.

It is not legal to evict someone from their own home for being jerks, as much as we wish it was.
