Thanks Star,

I really just wanted to get my point across, especially #7.

Blessings

I just thought I should note, for you and NTL...  The thread was originally begun well over two years ago, and sneekywren hasn't been back to the forum for almost as long.  That doesn't mean the topic can't be discussed, of course--just don't expect a reply from the original poster.  Wink

-   7. Meat eaters
-   11. Beards and long hair
-   12. The prevalence of people who need more exercise

First to the meat eaters comment. I have been walking my path in the Wiccan religion for over seven years now and I am a meat eater. I know many other Pagans who are also meat eaters and very devout to their beliefs in their Earth based religions. My personal view on this subject is that the Earth is our provider and that if we are to eat plants, which are living organisms, what makes a plant any more different than a living animal? If there were something above us humans on the food chain then surely we would be subject to more frequently being hunted ( people are occasionally killed by bears and such). We are made to be able to digest and gain in nutrients from meat as well as plants.

As for the long hair/ beards/ prevalence of those who need to exersise, this shouldn't even come into account. Most Pagan religions are about acceptance and love and understanding that not everyone is perfect. I myself have a friend who is one of the most loving, true and complete human beings I've ever had the fortune to meet and she is heavy. It isn't the outside of a person that matters it is the inside and the person that they are. Where does fitting into a certain stereotype come into account?

Not many people curl up on their beds at night with a houseplant.  Mammals have had a special place among humans for almost as long as we've been humans.  We relate to them because their intelligence reminds us of our own.  So it's not so black and white as that.  Otherwise people would likely eat their cats more often.  Wink

I'd suggest many non-pagan religions, at least ostensibly, are about these same things.  Christianity especially.
