In this book, Scott Cunningham brought his friendly, straightforward style to the "simple" magicks of the elements and the natural world. Earth Power starts off with a few short chapters introducing magick and common magickal techniques. While obviously aimed at the novice, they provide a quick review for the more experienced reader. There are no long discources on magickal theory and practice here, just enough information to enable a beginner to use the rest of the book.

The rest of the book is a grimoire of spells based first on the four magickal elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) and then on various natural areas (stone magick, tree magick, image magick, knot magick, candle magick, wax magick, mirror magick, rain, fog, and storm magick, and sea magick). For the most part, the spells are for everyday things: divination, healing, protection, weather-working, money, banishing, and the like.

If you are looking for complex rituals usable only by experienced magicians, you will be very disappointed in this book. Earth Power is a book of folk-style magick which is simple enough for anyone to perform successfully. While it is not the best book Scott Cunningham wrote, it is a worthy addition to the bookshelf of anyone looking for simple and practical magickal spells.
