I am in love.
With Eschaton Books in general and this book in particular.
A small company, Eschaton is building a reputation for publishing
works that haven't been able to find a home elsewhere. So far,
every book that I have ordered from them has been special and
well worth my time, energy, and money. The Spell of Making is no
exception.
It sometimes seems to me that just mentioning writing rituals is
enough to make most Pagans quake. I have lost track of the times
that someone has told me that they can't write a good ritual.
Well, now there is a book for you.
Rather than a ritual 'cookbook', this book takes you through the
process, step by step. You begin with what is ritual, then
move to what makes up a ritual. Why do we use symbolism? What
are we trying to achieve?
I learned a few things in reading this book -- even though I have
been doing ritual for over 20 years. The Spell of Making has
gone on my list of 'must read' books for my students.
I can't wait to see what Eschaton will release next!
