Question 1: The board looks different. Some of my favorite folders are missing? What happened to them?
Bob moved The Cauldron's message board to a different server in January 2006. Unfortunately, this new server and Beehive Forums version 0.6.x did not like each other -- the board crawled. So in mid-February 2006, the Hosts set up a new board using the old (and very fast) 0.5 branch of the software and turned the old board into a read-only archive. As part of this move, The Cauldron was split into two forums, the main forum (for religious discussions) and the social forum for more social discussions. This allows us to have more folders and be somewhat better organized. There are now more folders than there were, but they are split between multiple forums. Chances are that your "missing" folder is on a different Cauldron forum. You can use the "Forums" item in the top menu bar of the message board to move between forums on our message board. Note that each forum is somewhat separate, while you only have one usenamer, each forum has its own profiles, sigs, and forum settings.
Question 2: Are people who are not Pagan, or who aren't sure what they are yet,
participate here?
Yes. The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum is really an Pagan-centric interfaith forum. It is open to people of all faiths (or no faith), regardless of whether they are Pagan or not, as long as they are at least 13 years old and are willing to follow our rules. Our message board has partipants from many different Pagan and non-Pagan religions.
Question 3: Even Christians? Why does a Pagan board allow Christian to be members?
Yes, Christians willing to follow our rules are very welcome here -- and we have many long-time Christian members. While this upsets some Pagans who errorously think all Christians are fundies or who hate Christianity for some reason, it is not going to change as the hosts have nothing against Christianity or the average non-Fundie Christian.
Question 4: Why isn't there much information/discussion about Wicca on your message board and web site?
There are many different Pagan religions, and The Cauldron attracts more Pagans who are not Wiccan than many other general Pagan message boards. So the reason why there may not be as many Wiccan-oriented discussions as you might expect is simply because many of our posters are not Wiccan. Most of our non-Wiccan members don't have anything against Wicca either, but their natural inclination is to discuss topics relating to their own religions. Since we do have a broad variety of religions represented here, this often means that the topics under discussion don't necessarily relate directly to Wicca. Similarly, the hosts and many of our staff members are not Wiccan, so they have to depend upon our Wiccan members to provide Wiccan content for the Web site and Wiccan discussions for our message board. If you would like to discuss a Wiccan topic (or one for any other Pagan religion), please feel free to start a thread on the message board. Likewise, we always welcome Wiccan articles (just as we do all Pagan religions) for the Web site and newsletter.
