Contributed earlier, it is VERY detailed and covers a lot of bases so I would recommend setting aside a good chunk of time to finish it but it is definitely worth taking part in!

I hope a lot of recons and such answer to this, because the questions strongly imply that they believe that modern pagans are all left-wing politically, Wiccan or close to it, veg or vegan and devoted Earth-worshippers.

That's something that I noticed, too.  Granted, I am left-wing politically but am no where near being Wiccan or vegetarian.

That was how I will skew on their survey, too. Granted I'm lapsed, but while liberal, not at all inclined to Wicca, vegetarianism or earth worship.

Honestly, I didn't really notice that.  I think they covered the survey fairly well.

Not to mention living in the USA, for all it claims an internationalist perspective.

I noticed it too, was fairly irritated, and noted it in the comments a couple of times.

And this second version doesn't seem any better from what I remember of the first version.

I was under the impression that it was pretty fair when it came to political stance, btw recon doesn't necessarily mean politically conservative.  Most Asatru I've met in person or online tend to be either libertarians or pretty left-wing.  I do agree on the points on Wiccan, Veg, Vegan, and devoted Earth-worshipers.  I am definitely not Wiccan or Wiccaish by any stretch of the imagination and enjoy my hamburgers and steaks bleeding and mooing.

Hence the "and such" in Sine's post, I suspect.  Wink  The point being, people who in one way or another break the stereotype that the survey seems to support.  Recons are just one obvious group.

I don't really think that's where Sine was going with the Recon bit. Mainly you wouldn't put Recons in the Wiccan or Wiccan-inspired religious categories and definitely not in the earth worshiping group.

Recons spent much of the last 10 years putting distance between themselves and that sort of thing, and it's galling when it crops up in places where people should know better.

Fair enough.  I do agree on the other stereotypes pointed out in their post and that those don't necessarily represent the norm if there could be such a thing for a community as diverse as ours.
