So: it's been quiet around here, and Moon Ivy and I have been trying to think of ways to get conversation flowing again, but it's been a little difficult. One thing I mentioned is the question of whether RCR is intended to be a specific path with specific beliefs and practices, or is it meant to be an umbrella term, encompassing any path that incorporates x, y & z? Thoughts?

From what I can remember, it seems as though everyone here discussing the thing is talking about it as an umbrella term.  At least, those of us with specific paths already under way would probably use it as such.  I think I would, in any case.

I couldn't remember if anything had been decided, but I know I would prefer it to be an umbrella term- it seems to make more sense to me. (And yes, I'd probably end up considering Conair an Cheo an RCR path.)

I think that sounds right.  After all, "Celtic" is a bit of an umbrella term anyway, so it follows that RCR (or RCP) would also end up being more of an umbrella.

I would consider it an umbrella term myself.

I also vote for "umbrella term".  I would consider my fledgling path, currently dubbed Brighideach, to be a path within RCR.

Although I am not a Celtic Reconstructionist  I would consider it an umbrella term.  After all there are several major lines of believe that the various Celts followed.  If a person today wishes to follow one of the old paths, or a modernised version there of, it would most likely be quite distinct from what others may be following.  But all would be related as they are derived from more or less common "race".
