Announcement:

It looks like there is enough interest for this this time around. So setting up an Asatru/Heathenry SIG will be one of my first orders of business once a new computer is here and setup.

I would be interested. Smiley

Hi, all.

I just want to let you know that the TC staff is in the process of setting up the new Asatur/Heathenry SIG.  Randall will get it up and running as soon as he can, given his computer problems -- probably at the end of this coming week.

Hyacinth Belle will be the SIG Leader.  She is working on an intro post that will explain the purpose and parameters of the SIG.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, post here or let me know via PM or email (moonivy53@gmail.com).

The idea was resurrected in this thread:
http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?topic=11137.msg191347#msg191347
(Link takes you to the post where the idea is introduced.)

I count eight people there (including HB and SatAset) who have expressed an interest in an Asatru/Heathenry SIG in that thread.  I've asked them to post in over here as well.
I'd be interested. As a noob I don't feel confident enough to offer to help run the sig though. Not sure I'd have the time either  Sad

<raises hand>

I've long wished we had one, since Ta Hiera, Hazel & Oak, and the Kemetic SIG are very helpful to me in making sure my eclecticism is historically-informed - I haven't mentioned it because AL was there for those who were specifically Heathen.  I've often considered joining AL, but I really don't have enough time for another whole forum given that I'm not Heathen per se.  So I'm very happy about this development.

Sunflower

Word to the wise! You may want to consider joining AL anyway, if your interest is primarily historical, and that you don't want to have to check it everyday!

I'm a member of AL (under the same user name ironically  Wink ), and it can go days with as little as one update. Not a bad thing at all, as it keeps the quality of posts pretty informative and constructive.

Since I'm not technically Asatru, and only heathen in the generic dictionary sense, I get a bashing every now and then. It's healthy though, and I love seeing my name level up with the number of posts I put!   Grin

I just PM'ed the initial sticky post to Randall. I'm very excited about this development, and look forward to being a part of it!

I have a question. In this SIG I see the topics in the order they were created, from bottom to top. On the rest of the forum, I see them arranged according to the last post, from top to bottom. I tried making the SIG look like that, by clicking on "Last post", but when I get out of the SIG it comes back to the previous order. What can I do to make the threads show in "last post" order?

I'm pretty sure that's something that would be adjusted by the staff in their forum management; I don't see an option for regular members to adjust forum views.

I took a look and it seems to only be the Heathenism sig that lists the threads from oldest to newest - the rest have the threads with the most recent posts at the top.  I suspect it might be something like a tick-box Randall would check when he sets up a new board, rather than anything the individual users could do.  (users can set the threads to show them either the oldest or the newest posts first, but don't have a similar option for the thread list itself).

Randall is having to do some major things with his new computer at the moment, but will probably see this thread as soon as things are running more smoothly and do something about it then.  (or tell me I'm talking out of my ass - this is just a guess, after all)  Until then, at least the threads are showing up, just not in the expected order. Cheesy

This is something I would never have noticed if it wasn't pointed out, since i always come in through the 'show new posts' button.  I almost never see the thread lists in the individual boards.

It is.  Fortunately, I've got access to do stuff like this, I suspect for just such an occasion as this.  I normally try to stay out of it because I don't fully understand the admin panel and don't want to mess anything up, but this seems simple enough that I went ahead and tried it.  Smiley  Hopefully the threads in the new SIG should be showing in order of last post now.  It looks like it is to me, so let me know if it still looks funny...
