Hi I am very new to magick and spell casting and I want to know if there is anything i should know before I start casting. Here is a list of the spells I am going to do and there intentions.

1. Lost item spell. (for finding something I lost )
2. Wealth spell. (to get some money)
3. Blessing spell. (to help my mom)
4. Remove Affliction spell. (to help a friend)
5. Banishing spell of my own creation. (to send a mean neighbour away)

  I have some general advice that you might find helpfull since you are new to this.  While there are books of spells that doesn't mean that they work the same for everyone just as some people can follow a receipe to the letter and their result comes out inedible.  We need to discover what abilities we have and then learn how to use them.  (1) For something lost,  I would focus on and see the object in my mind and then look around it.  Sometimes the surroundings are seen in a quick flash or even just as a color, but that is where the lost object is now.  So if you see "green" look in all the places that hold that color.  Not a spell, but it works.  (2)Wealth. I personally would never do a spell for wealth, because it sounds like something I want rather than need. I would focus on the situation that i need the money for. (3,4) again consider the end result that you would like to see. The blessing for your mom may be a bit vague unless you are just wanting her to have a good life. For your friend with the affliction, I would ask to make him/her functional. (5) neighbor.  The neighbor is not the problem here it obviously is something about him that affects you, so without me knowing the details....you can cast a protective circle around your property, do a binding spell, place mirrors to reflect the negativity, make a witch's bottle, any number of things.  You must remember that everything exists in an intricate balance. I feel it is my place to ask for and accept only what I need.  As I said before there are books of spells but i feel there is a fine line between spells and prayers.  Having a legitimate purpose and good intent is understood as well by the Gods as any perfect ceremony in my opinion.  I will do a spell when I know one or can compose one,  other times I just pray.     Shadowolf

My advice is to start slow and keep good records of what you do so who can see what works for you and what doesn't.

Like Randall said....start slow.... are these spells that you found elsewhere?...Or did you write them yourself?  Of course, it's all dependant on your connection with the energies...and of course the position of the axis at any given moment.   And another question..... these spells for your mother and friend.... do they know you are doing them??

Hey, practice makes perfect! I'm not a fan of using magic as a last resort only. It's a tool - and it's always better to bolster magic with real-world action. There's no point in asking for money if you aren't working or trying to find work, no point in trying to remove afflictions from people if they have bad habits.

My only advice on making your neighbor 'go away'... Your visualization and intention should be very precise on this one. It is very easy (and I speak from personal experience on this one) to end up losing your home & having to move yourself by trying to separate yourself from a room-mate or neighbor. I would also recommend some real-world attempts at trying to make peace with your neighbor before sending them packing.

Try visualising the item before you fall asleep at night. When you wake up the next morning it's very likely you'll know where it is (not necessarily magic but this generally works for me.)

2. Wealth spell. (to get some money)

I recommened being careful with your wording with this one. Saying something along the lines of 'I want more money' may not simply cause you to find an $100 bill on the street, but could cause you to work extra shifts at work or something like that.

3. Blessing spell. (to help my mom)

I've always been one for asking permission before I cast a spell for another person, but if you don't want to do that then you could start sending good thoughts her way. For instance each day you could set aside a few minutes to do so. I'm a fan of sending good thoughts

I think you generally covered anything that I might have said my self to Dragon

My personal thought is this: Magic working is a tool (as already stated) that enables us to better our self. Magic is a power that can be called upon but must have doors open to come into your home. It will ever so rarely pound at your door and break it down.

Magic can be specified more precisely in a working but you must always be aware that it may not come in the way you expect (or, want.) to come in.

Like everyone else has said, start slow, and dont get discouraged when the result isnt want you expect. Be sure to follow up spells with your actions. such as for the wealth spell, do things differently to help the spell out, like spend less money on things you dont really need, or try to get a better job. Magic won't do everything for you as I'm sure you know, there are things you have to do to help it out.

I try to think of every possible way a spell could come back to me as well before doing it (threefold). I think someone already asked you, but does your mother and friend know what you are doing? You should always get permission from the person before doing spellwork for them.

  I agree completely if a specific spell is cast.  There seems to be a lot of questions from people wanting to help a friend or family member so  how does evryone feel about a more general spell ?  Such as "May XXXX find the path he is lookig for?"  or "May XXXX find the strengh she needs?"  Is permission necessary then ?  Also,  what is the opinion of our lives being somewhat planned out for us and that we are supposed to go through some situations for the "lessons" ect.    I am not one to alter the path that I feel that i am supposed to be on by spells,  I just us them to make the road less bumpy.  How does everyone else feel about that?
