I'm wondering if people here at TC would like to create an avatar tutorial file, so complete idiots like me who would love to create avatars will be able to learn how to make them?

Just a thought.

Make them as in making them in an image editing/creating software program? (like Photoshop, Gimp, Corel, etc).

Basically, the complete idiot's guide to making avatars.

The main problem I see with it is that this would require essentially also writing a complete idiot's guide to several major image editing programs.  I mean, that's essentially what "making avatars" is, you're just making an image of a particular size.  How you go about that will vary depending on what program you use.

There should be existing tutorials out there on the basics of using most of the major image editing programs (Photoshop, PSP, Gimp, Corel, etc., maybe even MSPaint although it's not the most effective for these purposes); it might be better if people could post links to those sorts of tutorials.  Particularly the free ones.  Wink

That is true. Really, you just draw a picture in your painting program, and save it, and upload it through the website. If you're interested in finding free tutorials, look at deviantart.com. They have TONS of tutorials on just about anything art based. As for free art programs, you can make basic pixel art in MS Paint. Otherwise I'd recommend GIMP. Although, there are other free paint programs out there. If you need more help, you can PM me, and I could do my best to walk you through how to create an avatar.

Oh, okay.  It was just a thought.  Thanks for the offer, Devo.
