We have slipped a bit on this in that 12-18 months. We are going to try to do better.

I have learned MUCH since I first began lurking (and still lurking!) here. I'm quite thankful for anyone that is willing to name a spade for what it is. You guys have helped me to improve my own path. Thank you. *bows*

Having said that, it is time for me to quit threadjacking, resume my formal lurking pose, and continue to duck HeartShadow!

Posting and reading on this forum doesn't create an obligation to post and read MORE on this forum.

Just an overwhelming compulsion....

(I don't need an intervention.  I can quit any time, I swear!)

I know exactly what you mean-you join just to have a look and end up never wanting to go away!

We have slipped a bit on this in that 12-18 months. We are going to try to do better.

I think it's been a hectic year for a lot of us (probably something cosmic). I still recommend this board to pagan friends both new and experienced for the level of info and interaction you'll get here. I recommended the moderation policy to my Star Trek organization when they were looking to fire up a new email list (though they in their infinite stupidity chose not to have a public moderation process).

But I have noticed that the discussions in the more advanced areas were a little thin and now I understand why. I do hope the influx of new posters that the membership reorganization gives us will help keep the board going. And I really do plan to be here more often over the winter. I need something to keep my mind off the seasonal depression, after all.

I think it will, with time.  I am plan to get a newsletter out tomorrow (even if it is short) to let people know about the membership changes and such. The lack of a regular newsletter isn't helping us either.

I would volunteer to help with that, but since I can't even manage to find the time to get the one done for my Star Trek group that's overdue from August, I'd better not.

I'm very familiar with that problem.  And to think I used to do a monthly 20-30 page zine -- on an Apple IIe. Using a spreadsheet to lay it out in two columns. I have no idea how I found time to do it.

I'm finally on vacations and decided to check TC (after... 4-5 months?), and found lots of changes! I like it, I think the organization now is better than before. *thumbs up*  Smiley

I just made another major change. The TC Web Site redesign is being tested on the site home page and on the forum.

No sidebar! That was slightly jarring as I refreshed. I'll have to go explore the home page. Smiley

Sorry about having to suddenly change the forum, but I discovered that allowing login/logout on the web site breaks the login/logout on the forum unless I make the design updates to both. Without the forum update, logging in out out of the forum area takes you to the main page of the website, not the forum area. That would have been FAR too confusing.

No worries! Cauldronites are nothing if not adaptable. I mean, we've used how many different kinds of software? Cheesy

A personal (and entirely ignorable) thought: there a several links that basically take you to the same place, as far as the forum goes; there's "Forum" on the main set of links, you can click "Community" to get to the Community Home page and click on Message Board, and you can hover on "Community" and click on "Board Home" under Forum. It seems a little redundant.

Also, a question: I assume you'll be putting that top bar on all the pages? Is there any way to make a page that loads TCN in a frame under the bar, to add some cohesiveness and ease of browsing? Just curious. Cheesy

Some of that HAS to be there in case people visit the site with javascript off.  With javascript off, the menus do not pop up so the links that cause the menus to appear when mosed over need to go somewhere. One more of the site gets converted, they will go to pages that duplicate the menus.

Unfortunately not. Ning's software and servers are  designed to automatically break Ning sites out of frames. Otherwise, I'd be doing that.
