I'm withholding judgment on this (and similar hypotheses). The idea that time was separate from space in the very early universe looks like it could solve a number of problems, but none of the idea have been studied enough to determine if they both match current conditions and make testable predictions. HoYava Gravity is the most promising one I've seen yet.

Me too. I'm in that sometimes uncomfortable position of having my interest in the subject far exceed my knowledge, or judgment. Still, I love reading about it and pretending I know more than I actually do.  Smiley

While I've had more years at it that you do (and hence somewhat more knowledge to fall back on), I'm often in the exact same boat you are. This stuff is very hard to understand.

Wow.  Elegant.  It seems to be popular with contemporaries.  This is something to keep an eyeball on.  Thanks Finn. Smiley

Same here. I don't necessarily grasp the ingredients, but I devour the end result. Delicious stuff!

I suspect even Stephen Hawking frequently finds himself in that position

From the article: "he tried a similar trick, breaking apart space and time in an attempt to explain dark energy. But he abandoned his model because it allowed information to be communicated faster than the speed of light."

The problem here is that one theory doesn't necessarily prove (or dis-prove) another
