Unfortunately, yes. It's embarrassing to admit this, but while this outing was my niece's birthday gift, it was as much for me as it was for her.

Also unfortunately, it's pricey. (But at least the money is going to help support one of the best museums in the world.)

Pricey - so 'tis, but from my POV, there's the "well, I have to sleep somewhere" factor.  (Tourist accommodation in NYC is not cheap!)

Now I need to figure out who I might be e-quainted with in the area, who has a kid I can borrow Cheesy - since I'm really doubtful WH's plan will work.

Or, more seriously:  Thanks for the link; I've started a bookmark subfolder that's especially for that NY trip, so I can keep track of Things We Must Do.  We might not get to spend the night at the AMNH, but we can certainly spend a day there.  (And if you ever visit my neck of the woods, you'll probably be interested in a short - 'bout an hour's drive each way - road trip to the Royal Tyrrell Museum.)
