Since this is a hectic time of year and I'm not sure how much online time I'll have between now and Solstice, I'm posting this now for anyone who wants to add their lists in anticipation of the new season.

What are your goals for Winter(Summer) 2010?  Share them here!

How this thing works:
1. Post your list of goals to be accomplished during the winter (summer if you're south of the equator).
2. After the Solstice, periodically post updates and progress reports on this thread.
3. I'll try to give progress updates for the entire group every week or two.
4. The fun ends on the last day of the season, when we'll start a new thread and whole new lists.
5. Most important: Have fun and don't get too stressed!

Post your lists now and remember to update them regularly between December 21st, 2009 and March 20, 2010.

Good Luck!

What are your goals for Winter(Summer) 2010?  Share them here!

1) Thoroughly educate myself as to what it will take to become a technical writer. (This is the initial
planning stage of my Goal for the New Decade)

2) Begin to feel out what classes I made need to take in order to improve my writing skills overall (English
101-type stuff - grammar, sentence structure, usage, etc.) & make a battle plan for continuing education.

3) Make it through the last two classes of my Associate's Degree so I can freaking graduate already!

1.  Get a new job, particularly one I like and gives me decent money
2.  Seriously work on writing projects until school starts--f'ex finish book of poetry or write a chapter in my novel
3.  Take up the work again for my tradition until school starts
4.  Once school begins--throw myself into serious study and attend all classes

I've got very few overall seasonal goals this time (actually, none yet), but many rotating/revolving/evolving goals that will get changed several times throughout the season.

Fitness:
1.  Stay on exercise schedule for one week straight.--I'm really, really off track with this lately.  Once I've accomplished this goal, I'll add a new one for "two weeks consecutively" and keep building, but right now I'm just looking for one week straight through.  (Hopefully I'll be able to change it to 2 weeks by the time the season actually begins.)
2.  Do 15 sessions with tummy trimmers DVD.--Currently at 8.
3.  Do 15 sessions with WiiFit Plus.--Currently at 2.

(As always, new goals to be added as I rotate through this stuff.)

Monthly Projects:
See here (last paragraph) and here (first paragraph) for explanation.
1.  January:  Complete one short writing assignment per week.--This consists of a couple of short attempts at different takes on the assignment, choosing the best one, polishing it a little, exchanging and critiquing with an off-forum writing buddy, and then revising according to critique.

(New goals to be added each month.)

I feel like there's probably stuff I should be adding to this, but I don't know what yet.  So this is it for now.

Here we go!

1. Find a new job. - Note I'm not saying "look" or "search" for a new job.  I want to be working for a different employer by spring.
2. Refocus and work on a long-term plan.  - Between health, work, and other issues, I feel like I'm wandering aimlessly through my days anymore.  I want take some time this season to look inward and get a better handle on where I'm going and how I'm going to get there.
3. Do a better job of managing the anemia.  - At the moment, it's still managing me.  Embarrassed
4. Resist the urge to cut my hair off. - There was such a positive response to the cut of my Halloween wig that I'm growing my hair out into the same style. It'll be the first time in almost two decades that I haven't had short hair. Eep!

*looks at list so far*
I'm going to stop there for now.  It may be a short list, but it's a pithy one!

Okay - I could use some motivation.  So here goes.

1. FINISH this draft of Ghost.  For real, and with an ending that doesn't make me think of flamethrowers.

2. get a reasonable way into the FlameKeeping book.  say 30 pages.

3. complete hubby's sweater and fingerless gloves.

4. complete swuggy's stuffed bunny.

5. complete Christmas stockings.  (maybe this should be first? Wink )

6. get improvement with my back.  If the current stuff I'm doing doesn't start working soon, see physical therapist.

7. Get swuggy APPRECIABLY potty trained.  If REAL progress isn't being made by the end of this season, get referral to specialist and GO.

Then again, I find that TC is really the only social interaction that I need on a day to day basis.

lmao XD
Yeah, I've moved so much in the past few years, I no longer have friends. With not having a decent connection at my house, I find that hours spent outside of work to be lonely and boring.
But if I could live on the internet, I probably would.

02. Finish Greek Religion by the end of December.
03. Acquire all necessary ingredients for purification stuff by the end of December.
04. Get new shrine set up for January 1.

06. Write 5,000 words per week, preferrably at a 1,000 words per day pace.
07. Exercise for at least 3 hours a week.
08. Read at least one book from my religious to-read pile per month.
09. Read at least one "for fun" book per month.
10. Get a B+ or higher in my classes.
11. Get some kind of job that won't lead to serious amounts of stress.

One thing only:

Finish the first draft of my book of original myths.

Creative Stuff
1. Finish the crocheted gifts I'm working on time for Christmas.
2. Begin writing in my paper journal daily again.
3. Finish the first draft of this year's NaNovel.--Yeesh. This is ambitious. But gosh darn it, I need to finish a first draft of at least one of the novels I have started.

Religious Stuff
1. Update An Seanchas Fior every week.--This may help me get cracking on all the essays I need to write.

Emotional/Health Stuff
1. Begin making a long term plan for where I want to be by the end of next year (2010).--One of the most disturbing things about my depression is that, ever since middle school, I have been unable to see a future life for myself past college graduation--any point in time beyond that was just blank, empty. Now of course that graduation has come and gone, I've literally been living a life that I was once sure I would not be living by now. But I've been drifting through it without any real end. I have no idea if I will even be able to make this plan, but I guess I've got to try.

I can sympathize with this.  Depression makes it so very difficult to see any long-term potential.

One of the reasons I keep a Lifetime to-do  list is to combat that big, dark nothingness that the future sometimes seems to be.  The future is not allowed to be empty, dammit, because someday, I will see the Northern Lights in person, hold my godchild, and do the other 1000+ things on my list.  It doesn't always work, but sometimes that list gives me something to focus on when things are looking bleak. YMMV, of course.
