The future is not allowed to be empty, dammit, because someday, I will see the Northern Lights in person, hold my godchild, and do the other 1000+ things on my list.  It doesn't always work, but sometimes that list gives me something to focus on when things are looking bleak.

This is my hope for the plan, if I am able to make it. Thanks.  Smiley

What are your goals for Winter(Summer) 2010?  Share them here!

My goals have some seemingly easy steps under them, so that I can cross those off and feel like I'm getting somewhere.

1. Finish New Year's Eve dress.  (If it doesn't get done by New Years, at least I can wear it to Phantom of the Opera.)
   a. complete pattern
   b. purchase fabric
2. Update wardrobe (continuing from last season)
   a. Make a list of what I need
3. Create a ancestor* shrine (not just for ancestors, but other special departed also)
   a. Find and clear a place for it
   b. Gather up photos of those departed
4. Read the Tao de Ching
   a. obtain a copy of said text
5. Create some kind of wedding organization/checklist/planner.

Okay - I could use some motivation.  So here goes.

1. FINISH this draft of Ghost.  For real, and with an ending that doesn't make me think of flamethrowers.

2. get a reasonable way into the FlameKeeping book.  say 30 pages.

3. complete hubby's sweater and fingerless gloves.

4. complete swuggy's stuffed bunny.

5. complete Christmas stockings.  (maybe this should be first? Wink )

6. get improvement with my back.  If the current stuff I'm doing doesn't start working soon, see physical therapist.

7. Get swuggy APPRECIABLY potty trained.  If REAL progress isn't being made by the end of this season, get referral to specialist and GO.

can I finish one of these BEFORE solstice and still have it count? Cheesy

I can cross #5 off - stockings are DONE!

Congrats on getting them done!

I haven't been counting goals finished before the season starts toward the group stats, as technically the party doesn't actually start until the first day of the new season.  That said, it really doesn't matter to me either way and I'm willing to abide by whatever the majority of participants want to do.

They don't have to count.  I'm just thrilled to death to get SOMETHING done, given how things have been going lately.

Can I edit one of them out before the solstice and not have it count against me? I've been down and out with something flu-like for days now, and there's no way I'm going to get my first goal done. (Getting my room fully cleaned in time for Christmas. Not Gonna Happen.  Embarrassed)

Not a problem at all.  It's perfectly acceptable to drop goals at any time before or during the season, just let me know that it's a removed rather than a failed goal.  If someone needs to remove a goal, I  take it out of the total goal tally for the group.

Feel better soon!

Here we go again!

1) Pass my classes-this may change if things with the school doesn't pan out

2) Concentrate on overall health rather than numbers. My hope is if I do this, numbers will come into line

3) Try to become less of a hermit. We will see how this goes since I have anti-social tendancies  Wink

That's all I have for now, I may add more. Smiley

What are your goals for Winter(Summer) 2010?  Share them here!
Post your lists now and remember to update them regularly between December 21st, 2009 and March 20, 2010.

Good Luck!

In the past I've divided my goals out into various areas of life, but one of my previous goals from the season just ending has led to a change in how I am looking at my life.  Thus, I will list from here out as a whole, more like a planner schedule, for there is no distinction between my work, my spirituality, my family, my house- all of these are a part of one integrated whole, thus, dividing them up no longer makes sense.

Monday, December 20, 2009: Yuletide begins at sundown.  Have prepared the bonfire1, offerings and don't forget to pull the lamb loin2 tomorrow so it is ready to cook.  Finish feast menu preparations3.  Mail out holiday letters and cards4- late as usual.  Put out all the lights and rebuild the fire in the stove5.  Carry the old fire out to the pit if needed.
Thurs., Dec. 23, 2009: drive to DSM for family holiday gathering6.  Call Dad to set time to stop in and visit if well by then7.

January 2010: Have ready by Imbolc both the ritual8 and the brat9 for this year's rites.
Find out if can ewe's milk from my friend who raises Shetland sheep for offering10.
Also procure a lamb joint11 from her and a fleece12.
Begin gathering materials to build a spinning wheel.13

February 2010: Begin work on Ostara ritual14.  Prepare Ostara menu15.  This year I think we'll have roast hens, so I need to either butcher or buy a properly butchered bird for the meal16. (If these hens haven't begun laying by then, I'm thinking the former...)

March 2010: Prepare for St. Pat's.17  Find either a brisket or corned brisket before then18.
March 19, 2010, sundown begins Ostara.  Have meal planned19 and offerings ready20.  If I butcher our hen I'll offer her blood, organs, feet and head.  If we buy one from the butcher, I'll offer 13 eggs.

Where there is time I also would like to fit in knitting a pair of socks21, source some redheaded wool or wool yarn for knitting a baby Gnome sweater22, design and execute an oak leaf and acorn pattern on my new wool brat23 and produce four new pieces of artwork that I am 100% proud of.24

So, the list got cut down a bit due to recent illness; I intend to add more as the season progresses (and keep a better eye on time sensitive goals and my health). The amended version:

01. Finish Greek Religion by the end of December.
02. Post at each of my three blogs at least once a week.
03. Write 5,000 words per week, preferrably at a 1,000 words per day pace.
04. Exercise for at least 3 hours a week.
05. Read at least one book from my religious to-read pile per month.
06. Read at least one "for fun" book per month.
07. Get a B+ or higher in my classes.
08. Get some kind of job that won't lead to serious amounts of stress.

This is an interesting approach.  I may have to borrow it when I start posting longer lists again.

Do we start today, or tomorrow?  Either way, updates and slight revision to one goal...

Fitness:
1.  Stay on wake-up schedule for one week straight.--This was "stay on exercise schedule", but I determined that part of the problem is just getting myself to wake up and stay up.  I tend, lately, to get up, get dressed, feed the cats, and then collapse on the couch for another 30-40 minutes of dozing before I really have to get up and get going.  So first I'll just try to get back into the habit of waking up and staying up, and then I'll work on exercise.  (Also:  holiday week, not the best time to be working on full-on exercise schedule goals anyway.)
2.  Do 15 sessions with tummy trimmers DVD.--Currently at 8.
3.  Do 15 sessions with WiiFit Plus.--Currently at 4.

Monthly Projects:
See here (last paragraph) and here (first paragraph) for explanation.
1.  January:  Complete one short writing assignment per week.--Starting 4 Jan 2010.  I'm planning on posting these exercises on my blog for anyone interested in following along.

We officially start at Solstice, which I think is 12:47pm EST today.  That reminds me, I need to do a "last call" for the previous to do thread.
