NIPOMO, Calif. - A lawn display of "Jesus" shooting " Santa Claus" has residents in one San Luis Obispo County area up in arms.

The controversial Christmas display shows a Jesus figure pointing a double-barrel shotgun at a dead Santa figure. Santa's reindeer Rudolph lays sprawled across the hood of a pickup truck nearby.

All it needs it to have Jeff Foxworthy's 'It was the night after Christmas' playing.

I agree, completely tacky. I think whoever did this needs a job or something because they sure are bored.

I hope there aren't any little kids living on that street. How do you explain that?  Undecided

LOL. That's sick, but funny -- and it seems like the ultimate expression of the folks complaining about people saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." The fundie version of Jesus (mean and well-armed) takes on the evil forces secularizing the holiday -- like Santa.

I think it's absolutely outstanding. Every single person who screams about keeping Christ in Christmas and bitches because clerks wish people Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas should absolutely be required to have this on their front lawn.

I wouldn't do it, but I like it.  Most of my life I have hated xmas because of the stress and pressure connected with it.  It's only recently that I have come to enjoy it.

I was worried that I'd be the only one to find this funny.  In fact I had that reaction to the thread title, and was only holding back my amusement long enough to check that no one dressed as Jesus had murdered a guy dressed as santa.

Honestly, the thing that's really bothering me here IS that I'm a parent - I'm looking at this as someone that might have to explain this to my four year old.  I don't think this is a mature way to handle something when you live across from a school bus stop.

Yeah, that's kind of my reaction too.  I find it generally amusing on principle, but it's not something I would want to see in my neighborhood personally (especially not across from a school bus stop).  It seems like a concept better suited to an editorial cartoon or etc. than a display on the lawn, IMO.
