Surely if they were simply tring to be inflammatory they'd have cut it before she added that stock disclaimer about white witchcraft not black witchcraft. Then they could have made her look like she was bluntly stating she was a witch, which would play better to this audience here on TC, but be much more controversial for the (much larger) 'witches are eeeeevil' crowd. Sounds like fuss about nothing to me.

Not really.

no, if they'd cut it THAT short they'd have trouble when later there weren't any clips of her doing eeeevil stuff to try and stay in the competition.  This way she's just sweet, deluded, and harmless.  one of "those weird folks" and on we go.

Hey! I object to having her in my 'weird folks' group! Let her find one of her own-preferably very far away with no prospect of anyone ever hearing her speak again.  Wink

...Why?

As I understand it, what we have to go on here is a couple of sentences, probably thrown out under pressure without a lot of time to carefully think through them, aimed at people who know nothing about witchcraft to begin with and probably trying not to freak them out too much.  I'll admit the "white magic" bit doesn't sound promising, but it doesn't seem like we really have enough information to draw any real conclusions about her as a person or as a witch.  I don't understand why the rush to condemn her based on the tiny amount if information we have.  Am I missing something?

Sorry Star-that wasn't me condemning, that was my weird ass humour. The only problem that I have really is the conclusions that people always reach when the word 'witchcraft' is mentioned. My family do it all the time and they know what my religious proclivity is. They hear 'witch' and automatically jump into a long rant about 'these loony people who influence young impressional people with their idiotic beliefs and turn people away from the true faith' (I've heard this speech for years-I love my family's broad mindedness at times).

Oh, OK.  Sorry--the bit about never wanting anyone to hear her speak again kind of threw me off, I think.  Wink

Don't worry about it. Most of my friends have difficulty telling whether I'm teasing them or not, even when they are looking at me. It's one of the great family traits that I get from my dad-the ability to wind people up with everyone but them knowing that it is a joke (the hard part is keeping a straight face whilst you do it). My humour is somewhat peculiar, I know.
