Yes, I know that as well.

Sorry about that, going back and re-reading my quick reply I might have come across as a bit arrogaunt which was not my intent.

Just trying to point out that many see Artemis as the "Virgin" goddess yet do not understand the usage in the archaic form of the word.

Most definitely. It might have been helpful if I had brought that up in my reply to NyteShaed, but I wasn't sure how relevant it was to the discussion.

I know for me I have found that almost anytime I speak on Artemis I have to either remind or clarrify my usage to people of that fact as they cite the "Virgin" or "Eternal Virgin" facet but its always in the current usage of the term.  Though to be honest I trully think much of that (Virgin as defined today) arose from the Cult of Mary which arose in Ephesos in later years and layed claim to a lot of the earlier Cyebe / Artemis / Diana lore from there.

I equally have to admit it took reading a couple of graduate thieses (Sp) on womanhood and life stages in ancient Greece to really see it and understand it.

If you'll notice, I wasn't talking about my own perceptions of Artemis, but rather others'. I know Greek mythology both from personal interest and archaeology/Classics classes, so I am fully aware of Artemis' virgin status in the myths. In this thread a year and a half ago, I was remarking on not liking the role and persona some people had shoved Artemis into, which in a way has helped sour Her and I's relationship. (I know Artemis is not the Fluffy Moon Goddess she is made out to be in some circles, but the few interactions I've had with her one-on-one do not make me more inclined to get to know her, anyway.)

She's anything but fluffy, properly done anyway.  She's a huntress and a killer.  I can definitely see her in camoflage and combat boots.

That one is actually rather difficult to answer in that what works for one may not work for another.  The other thing is that you may call out to Artemis but might just get Diana or even The Virgin Mary from the Cult of Mary that arose in Ephesos.

What I would reccomend is that you read up on her and read some of the tales associated with her.  I will forewarn that it can be confusing for many tales of Artemis / Diana have become crossed with even some tales of Hekate being strewn in and encompassing aspects of each.

At the same time you might try opening yourself up to have her visit you in dream time.  You can prepare that through speking a chant or repeating a few lines over in your mind before you go to bed at night.  It can be really detailed and specific or something as simple as saying "Artemis, I open myself to you.  I ask you to visit me during dreamtime!"

Perhaps even going so far as to take a few minutes during your day to stop and think about Artemis and actually just speak to her.  Tell her why you want to come to know her and what she would have of you.  But also be observant of things about you for in my experience Artemis is one that shows she has turnt her eyes upon you in many ways and through many signs.

The only warning i'd insert is don't go into it with a preconceived notion of who or what she is.  Far to many think only of her as the Wilderness goddess when that is but a tiny facet of who she is but that may not be the facet she wants to reveal to you.  Facets that might just make you ask just who your dealing with for if the wilderness goddess is all you know of her you'll not recognize the other facets.

Cool thnaks!!!

Your welcome.  Something else that may come into play.  When the Greeks moved into Egypt in various periods Artemis was carried with them of course, yet she was also inplanted or merged over or with two of their goddessess.  The most well known is the merger of Artemis and Bast in the delta area.  Yet there is a second whose temple lies in the Grottoe of Artemis (Spiro Artemis) , that being the Middle Kingdom goddess Pahket, not to be confused with Paschet which is a corruption of one of Bastest's identifers (associated with Ubasti if I recall correctly).
