Hi everyone

I've started to look into Scott Cunningham's work and was looking at his 'Living Wicca' book.

For anyone who's read it, what did you think of it? Was it worthwhile and definitely for the more 'advanced' wiccan? Good and bad points?

Thanks!

Definitely NOT "advanced".  Roll Eyes If you want something more advanced read Witchcraft for Tomorrow by Doreen Valiente. Heck, The Spiral Dance is more advanced than Living Wicca. Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

At best, it is a Neo-Wiccan 102 book.  It's more advanced than his Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner, but it really isn't "advanced" in any other meaning of the term.

I read it ages ago, hoping that it would contain more than his first book (Wicca for the Sol. Pract.). However, I found that while it expanded on some points, it wasn't anything that I couldn't have learned from other books. If it were me, I'd rent it from the library, because it's not a book I'd keep long term.

I haven't actually read his first book except for skimming it in the shops - I'm thinking that maybe the 'Living Wicca' book is good if you haven't read his 'Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner.'

I've found a few good excercises in 'Living Wicca' such as how to use different symbols in your BOS and there was this great excercise on compiling notes for all the different Sabbats which was really helpful for me. But it's not as advanced as I thought it would be

Yeah, it was a bit of a let down for me as well. I was particularly interested in learning more about shielding and protective magics, but his overview of it was very short. It was good stuff to know, but most of it I could have learned from other sources, or inferred from my own pre-existing knowledge. It's a good primer, but not much past that.
