This is when I'm glad I just have my beat-up 1994 Nissan Altima. No music system (not even radio!) and questionable heating, but the breaks have never failed me.

I have a 2006 Prius-I love it! Touch wood *raps knuckles on head* the only thing wrong with it is an occasional twitchy rear parking sensor. I'm so used to having cars without them though so I just use my mirrors like you are supposed to!  Wink

Does a rear parking sensor beep when you get too close?

Don't diss my car, Stephen or you can say bye bye to your personal free lift service!  Angry

It changes tone the closer you get to an object-it's very helpful for getting in and out of small parking spaces. Very useful to me as reversing is not my strongest suit  Wink

To clarify Sharon's comment slightly:  The Prius beeps any time it's put in reverse, regardless, hence the "change in tone" for a rear parking sensor rather than merely having a beep in the first place.  (Love the car--ours is a 2009--but this drives me nuts.)

I can see letting you know you're too close, but any time it's in reverse???  That would be annoying!

I'm used to it so it doesn't bother me any more. Helps me out when idiotic teenagers run out behind my car as I am reversing after collecting my little girl.

Hmmm, I prefer not having the warning; that way I can keep a straight face when telling the police that "I didn't know they were there".

I don't mind-it allows me to let rip with a stream of blistering sarcasm which is always funny. The blank looks as they try to work out what it is that you have actually called them are priceless, usually following an acidic comment about their blindingly obvious attention in their classes to proper usages of English in a conversation that doesn't need to use swear words! What is actually funnier these days is being about to say something when my 8 year old daughter interrupts and says it for me! Trying to keep a straight face until I have driven away is getting more and more dificult! And Stephen says that my daughter is precocious-I don't know where he gets that idea from!  Grin
