I've decided to start this thread so there's one place to put stuff relating to the human food supply issues...basically this is aimed at stuff coming in from China right now, but it can be used for other food supply issues as well.

USDA OKs chickens fed tainted pet food

From the article: "Nor in turn do any of those animals pose a health risk to humans if eaten, according to the USDA and Food and Drug Administration."

Given hoe in bed with producers these agencies have been of late, this is not very reassuring.

We get seafood from China?  Wouldn't be very fresh by the time it gets here.

Ah yes, Soylent Green.  It is supprising howmany people who are old enough, don't rember it.

Since I've always been a critic of over population, country wise and world wise, I'll be curious to see 2022 (but I'll be very aged by then).

Imported from China, I see.  Quite frankly, I am beginning to think we need to ban food imported from China until Chinese businesses prove they have cleaned up their act.

Well if it is puffer, I think we will know with out a doubt if some one in the processing is a little careless.     But the big question still is  Why did we let our fisheries industry disappear?

Oh yeh, now I remember it is cheaper for the sellers to import.

US on Mad Cow: Don't Test All Cattle

From the article: "Larger meat companies feared that move because, if Creekstone tested its meat and advertised it as safe, they might have to perform the expensive test, too." So naturally the Bush administration is siding with large company profits over human safety -- and small company innovation. This is the type of "lawsuit abuse" that needs to be stopped, IMHO.
