I've been getting to know Brighid for a while, but over the past few days, I've had a lot going on that makes me feel like I've been "thwapped." My Tall Dude was sick, and I was in the position of nursing him--first a cold, then he accidentally drank something that had grapefruit juice in it, and it reacted with his blood pressure medication. I had one of my short stories almost ready to submit to a publisher when a sudden jolt of inspiration sent me scrambling to rewrite it with a major change of perspective. And the topper was that I was looking online yesterday morning at one of the jewelry-making supply stores I used to use, and the precious metal clay starter kit that I'd been drooling over for months (it's a clay with silver or gold suspended in it--you mold it, let it dry, then fire it, and the firing burns off the clay, leaving 99% silver or 22kt gold behind) has come down in price, just in time for me to move off campus at the end of this month as planned, to somewhere that I'll be able to work with it. (If I wasn't allowed to have candles, they're not about to allow me to keep a blowtorch.)

As I was sitting there, looking at the kit on the screen, the light bulb came on, and I finally put it all together. As soon as I put the three concepts together and thought, "Brighid," the answer that came was "About time you figured it out."

To top it off, last night I dreamed that I was in front of an old-fashioned blacksmith's forge, like the one at the reenactors' village where I went on a school trip when I was a kid, and a red-haired woman handed me a hammer and said, "Get to work."

Is this typical of her? And is this feeling like I'm supposed to jump to and do what needs to be done the way it's always going to be with her, or does she typically ease up a little once some of the bad habits are cleared up and out of the way? I'm a little nervous that I may have been claimed by a goddess who's even more blunt and acidic than I am--is this just her way, or could it be that she's annoyed with me for not paying more attention before?

Blunt, yes.  Acidic, no.  At least not in my experience.

From what has happened to me and others I know of, this kind of communication is typical of Brighid.  She's very patient but also very no-nonsense.  She expects you to use your talents and to do what you've committed to doing.

From what you've described, I doubt She's annoyed at you.  At least, not yet.  Cheesy  I think it's pretty typical that people take a while to figure out that that presence in their life is Brighid.  Now that you've figured it out, though, if you want a relationship with Her, She'll expect you to do the necessary work.

I recommend that you take some time to read through the threads in the Cill SIG.  A number of us have describe various experiences with Brighid.  We're pretty consistent in terms of the "feeling" we all get about Her.  The might help you understand what's going on with you.

Good luck!  Wink

It's a bit more heavy-handed than she often is, but not uncharacteristic - and it sounds like you maybe needed the extra emphasis.  It might ease up, if you become good at noticing when she's trying to convey something to you, or (what I suspect is more likely) you'll get used to it, probably fairly quickly, and will find it less disconcerting.  (I'm guessing that you're on the stubborn and skeptical side, and need to feel quite sure that what you're getting is a message from your deity before you do anything about it.)

I concur with MI about, "Blunt, yes.  Acidic, no."  I'd tell you to be relieved that it was Brigid, rather than the Morrigan, who is blunter and is more likely to be acidic, but... well, not predicting anything and it may not happen this way at all, but if you turned out to be one of us who works with both of The Ladies, I wouldn't be surprised by it.
