A few days ago, I went to the local herb/bead/incense store in search for some juniper incense.  As I was looking for the right kind, I leaned over and saw sweetgrass, but before my mind had decided it was that particular object, I felt that "pulling" (for me it is like kinda being dizzy, but your attention is brought rapidly and directly to something).  I saw in my mind's eye a woman with a blonde braid, dressed in various colors of dark green (some gold) with a cloak and a gold or green belt around Her waist.  Something whispered in my ear, "Brighid".  Hmm...

So, I'm wondering if anyone else has ever associated Brighid with sweet grass or has come across any references to it?  Also, I was thinking about offering the sweet grass to Her, but was feeling weird about "burning Her hair or belt".  But it could simply be a request for an offering?

I also have bronchitis and was wondering if this might have anything to do with healing?  I doubt it, but heck, it's a thought.

Also, I came across this site, which the homepage and content are kinda hokey, but it does include some really beautiful hymns, if you all are interested in taking a peek: In Praise of Her

I use either sage and sweetgrass or just plain sweetgrass for smudging.  Not particularly FOR Brighid, but I've never had any objection from her.  Go for it, it smells lovely.

Okey, I can't tell you anything about the sweetgras part, but I wanted to thank you.

Lol, big hug and kiss back at ya!  I am glad the link helped you.  The first prayer I thought was particularly beautiful for a morning type ritual/daily devotion and I wanted to share with everyone Smiley

Interestingly enough, from that same site there is a reference to "Brighid of the twining hair" in a prayer by Ellen Evert Hopman.
