Related to the above:

Next week's brand new episode of Bones is going to feature what looks like a Wiccan coven as its major plot point.  The promo that aired during tonight's episode's credits seemed to indicate that a lot of jokes will be made regarding this.  Then again, it's a promo Undecided

Be nice-we won't get that for 2 weeks after you see it!  Cry

Ah, but you get Doctor Who first.  (except that i can't wait and always stream it).  And we never got Being Human at all, as far as I could find.

It was on BBC America last summer.  I personally didn't care for it much.  Then again, I'm sick of the 'vampirism as a metaphor' trope as it is waaay overused.

Well, not quite just a metaphor.  The vampires on Being Human do drink blood, although it is apparently more an addiction than a necessity.  Being able to go round in daylight takes away from it a bit, but at least they don't sparkle. Cheesy

Which was my point.  Out of all possible metaphors, vampirism as a metaphor for addiction is a personal peeve of mine.  This goes double if it is not necessary for them to drink it in order to survive.  I probably wouldn't mind it as much if the people who write these types of stories weren't so damn heavy-handed about it, but that really applies to all symbolism and metaphor and not just this particular example.

It doesn't matter to me if they can go into it or not (the vampires in my novels can go out in the sun but they need sunglasses because their eyes are sensitive to light).  And I'd like to pretend that the ones that sparkle do not exist Wink

Ah, I see.  And I agree, now that I think about it.  I'm part way through the second season and the AA type meetings are pretty annoying.  I'm more interested in the progress of Mitch's corruption at this point.

I've neither read the books nor seen the movie (s?), but I know it's out there just hearing other people talk.  'Sparkly' is not my preferred image of vampires.

I would note that Stoker's Dracula went around in the daytime.

I thought of the editing possibility, too.  And I thought they were going to go with an allergy to an incense or something like that.  But no.

[SPOILER ALERT!] The patient's problems ended up being caused by a combination of his secret steroid use and some hemlock that the "king" of the ren faire had made all the knights eat (mixed in with all sorts of other stuff like cow eyes).  Nothing at all to do with his practice as a witch.

I think they were making the guy out to be an utter twit.  House doesn't usually go shallow on the research.  I think it would have been a totally different outcome in relation to the plot had the book been something like Diary of a Drug Fiend.

I think it was mainly to point out that in his shoddy practice he would be foolish enough to concoct and eat something without knowing what it was.  The point might have been better made with an $RW book though!

That's because the first instance of a vampire going fwoosh in sunlight was in Nosferatu, which was an unlicensed film adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel.

The daughter of a friend of ours works in a sex toy shop, and they now have a dildo that is clear with suspended glitter in it - they call it the Edward.  It is apparently a HOT item.

Clear?  I sometimes wonder about people.  For some reason a clear dildo doesn't sound durable Undecided

Clear acrylic is pretty durable.  The glass ones, I would be more anxious about.
