Is anybody else watching the TV series Merlin? (It's currently shown in the U.S. on the Syfy Channel.)

It's basically the same "early years" approach that Smallville takes to the Superman mythos, only this time it's Arthurian legend. It's incredibly silly, not least in the liberties taken with the legend (Camelot has graduated from a castle to an entire kingdom; Guinevere is a low-born handmaiden to Morgana; etc.) And who knew that Britain was so very multi-culti back then?! (f'ex, Guinevere is half black, and black actors are sprinkled in various episodes liberally, without anyone batting a medieval eye.)

And yet, I'm still watching.

Oh, and for us Buffy fans, it's got Anthony Stewart Head.

I watched the first season when it was on NBC (they moved it to Siffy for the second.  Granted, this show fits that network more than NBC).  I think I read that they were not even trying for historical accuracy and it is set in a more fictional fantasy setting.  To me, Merlin is more-or-less So-Bad-It's-Good snarkbait.  I think I may have liked it better if they didn't diverge so much from the vast majority of Arthurian Legend (such as making Morgana the ward of King Uther and not Arthur's half-sister, Mordred being a young barbarian boy the two briefly took in, etc.)
