« Topic Start: May 29, 2007, 02:38:10 pm »

I wrote this on the four year anniversery of Bush getting us stuck in Iraq.  I never got around to posting it, but seeing the Memorial Day coverage on the news yesterday made me fell like I had to.  I did make one alteration while posting this, the number of casualties.

Four Years Later

Four years later and are we any better?
Four years later and are we safe?
To you this is an open letter
Because four years later we've lost our faith-
Faith in you and your plan.
Now there are almost 3,500 dead.
And since they're under your command,
The blame should lie on your empty head!
You said years ago the mission was done!
You said he had weapons of mass destruction,
And guess what--there were none!
You said this will be a period of reconstruction,
But it is in fact a civil war.
Almost 3,500 hundred are dead because of you
and you've ruined the lives of countless more.
What you did prayers can't undo.
If there is a just God,
He would turn you away.
You may think it odd,
But you can't clean the blood from your hands no matter how much you pray.
Four years from now will we be any better?
Four years from now will we be safe?
Four years from now will we still be fighting this war or will
Four years from now will someone have the brains to pull us out?

Melamphoros... Man, you hit the nail on the proverbial *coughBush'scough* head.

So true, and I applaud you for writing (and posting) it.

When did you write this?

Either Melamphoros or J.B. Drake (a pen name of mine) is fine.

I wrote it on the fourth anniversery so it was sometime in March (the exact day eludes me but I know it's sometime around the 20th).

Thank you. If it's ok with you, I'll just put it as written in March 2007.  Smiley

I think that would be best.  I don't normally date my poems or short stories (with one exception as it was audiobiographical) so trying to figure out when I wrote what can be difficult for me.
