Pele has always been here in my life.  We moved to Hawai'i when I was five, and immediately I felt Her welcoming me home.

Have you read the book Hawaii by James A. Michener?  I remember there being a passage about Pele.  Something about a missionary (or was it a royal converted to Christianity?) climbing Kilauea crater to defy her.  I was thinking "why would Pele waste her time with some annoying human?  Why would she reward his/her arrogance with a reply?"  If I'm not mistaken it was a true historic event (the book is historical fiction), which led to the adoption of Christianity by many Hawaiians.  Maybe Pele should have spoke up after all.  But no, I won't question her.  I'm sure she had her reasons.

Mwahahahaha.  Just you wait....

Should I be worried? Wink

Not exactly that I might not be "good enough", just... not sure I was acceptable.  (If I had a nickel for every fluffy bunny who claims to be thwapped merely because they think the deity in question was super-cool, I'd have a nice chunk of spare change - plenty, f'ex, to cover a certain trip I'd love to take.)

This is exactly what I meant. Basically that I didn't want to be like a fluff bunny with the whole "And, like, my Goddess is, like, the Morrigan, so like, don't mess with me!" by assuming that I was acceptable/good enough/what have you. I didn't want to have delusions of grandeur.

Welcome to "the sisterhood"

Thank you. Smiley

Interesting...part of my reason for moving to Hawaii was my love of Pele, and to make amends for offending Her. (My parents and I made several trips there in my childhood before mom and I moved, and on one of those trips mom bought a lava glass vase. Bad idea.) But I never really felt a tangible response from Her (aside from once seeing Her likeness in the fire that swept across Maui, and the aforementioned vase thing)--not one addressed to me, at any rate. She was always the Hawaiian deity whose presence I felt the most in general.
