When I first read that, I saw a comment from the author saying something to the effect of "I haven't heard anything further about it."

That's a well-written letter. Of course, I've never gotten challenges to books in libraries. Personally, if I thought some subject I disagreed with was getting too much attention, I'd be far more inclined to ask that a good book or two matching my point of view be added to the collection than any books be removed.
