Originally, I wanted to post asking for prayers/energy to help my financial situation. I haven't worked in over two years, unemployment is being canceled, and it's like no matter what I do to better my situation, everything falls through, or is blocked. I'm getting to the end of my rope, and I'm afraid of losing my house and ending up dying in the street.

That's enough to cause insomnia, nightmares when I do sleep, night terrors, panic attacks. But now the universe has cranked up the ante. I've lived in my house for four years and always thought I got along with my neighbors. A couple I'd talk to now and then. The others I'd wave to. But in the last couple of weeks one household in the cul-de-sac has gotten viscious, obscene, and threatening. They claim it's their right to park across my driveway or even in my driveway if they want. I tried to ask them politely to move their car up several feet into empty space. But even when they have twelve parking spaces available in the cul-de-sac, plus their two car garage, plus their driveway, plus the space in front of their house, they insist that it's their legal right to park on my property.

They escalated to the point where the police were called in, and they got ticketed, but they still park on my property. The woman came up on my property, screamed obscene names at me at the top of her lungs, and told me that as soon as I moved in, all of the neighbors for blocks around came and banged on her door and pleaded and begged her to find a way to "get me," and to "get rid of me" so the house would be empty and everyone could park in my driveway like they want. The last time the police left, they fanned out around the neighborhood banging on doors and screaming obscenities about me (I could hear them a block away) and trying to get the neighbors all in on their hate-fest and their meetings to "see that I got what was coming to me!"

Long winded. Sorry. Anyway, all I want is to be left alone, and far from wanting to move, I want to hang on to my house. But I need prayers. I need positive energy. And I need magical help.

I know people laugh at the idea of a curse, but to me, a sustained, directed energy of intense hate and intent to harm, which is what's being directed at me, is for all practical purposes the same as a curse.

So how do I break this "curse"?  I want to live in peace in my own house. Frankly, I want them gone. If "gone" means they go back into their house and stop their vicious campaign against me. Fine. If "gone" means they up and decide to move to Vermont/Florida/Budapest. Fine. I want them, their vicious attacks, and their hateful, harmful energy gone out of my life, for good.

So -- help? I've already worked magic to clear my energy and block theirs and protection magic to protect me, my cats, and my property.

Are they renters? If so I would report the behavior to the landlord or leasing company.

Also maybe you should check out harrasment laws in your state, especially if your neighbors are repeatedly threatening bodily harm to you.

I'd curse their butt right back, returning all the negative energy to sender.

Also, things are getting worse. I just got a call from a debt collector for Hewlett Packard. If I don't pay them $1000+ in 24 hours, Hewlett Packard is going to get me put in prison. I explained that I hadn't worked since the recession began, and I didn't even have money to buy food right now. She was all bitchy and smirky and said obviously I had money if I was paying my mortgage. I told her that I had been living on unemployment payments but they just ran out. She thought I was lying, because nobody gets unemployment for two years. I told her that my mom died and I had gotten a small inheritance to live on. She told me to give her my inheritance. I told her it was gone. I kept repeating that I had no job and no money, and she kept being sarcastic and accusing me of being a liar. She kept asking personal questions and accusing me of things. Apparently she's never heard of the Recession. Then she wanted to know where my computer was. I think she was going to tell me that I had to give it up. I tried to tell her that my computer was the only chance I had of earning a living, but finally I just hung up.

If anyone's familiar with Christopher Penzak's books, I've been working with the CD he includes in Witch's Shield. I thought it was helping things, but the curse keeps getting cranked up. I did a binding on the neighbors, but they're still doing their best to hurt me and get me thrown out of my house.

They went away or I killed them all, but then one day I went into my bathroom and found hundreds of tiny spiders all over my ceiling. I killed as many as I could, but I'm still finding spiders, big ones and little ones. Then I woke up one day to find the inside of my house festooned with cobwebs. It looked like someone had decorated it for a Halloween party. Then last week I went out one evening to put the garbage on the curb, and there were hundreds of earwigs on my front porch and crawling into my house. Later, I found one in my shower stall on the second floor. For the record, I'm a severe arachnophobe and earwigs make my skin crawl.

Why is my life turning into a bad horror movie? I'm wondering if I should turn to a professional.

And I still can't get a job. Can't even get an interview. I had one person in another forum tell me to dump my cats at the shelter and then just walk out the door and keep walking. Yep. Become a homeless begger. That'll learn 'em to mess with me. (Sigh.)

If you are in the US, they are simply lying through their teeth. They can't have you arrested, sent to prison, or anything like that for not paying a consumer debt. The most they can do is sue you for it. It is illegal for debt collectors to make threats like what you are reporting, not that the law stops. You don't even have to talk to them -- and unless you are able to make arrangements to pay them, there isn't any reason to bother to talk to them.  Hang up. Or better yet, don't answer.

This is the first time I've heard of defaulting on a credit card because of job loss as a criminal offense worthy of hard time. So why aren't there millions and millions of Americans in San Quentin for not paying off their Sears card?

Like Randall said, sounds like you have been targetted by illegal debt collection practices: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm has more information on what they can and can't do. Keep really good records of what they say in each contact (and you can legally require them to do all communication in writing.)

Contact your state Attorney General's office if you need further help: they usually have someone specifically in charge of helping with this kind of issue. (And if you don't have luck, try contacting your state congressperson's offices: they usually have a staff member to help with this kind of thing too.)

One of the best protections magically is making sure your side of the equation and your behavior is as forthright and solid as possible. Obviously, you may not be able to pay all your debts right now, but doing your best to determine that they're valid (which this may or may not be: you'll need more information on what the actual amount is, for example), and then figuring out some kind of way to deal with that obligation as best you can can do a lot to support other magical protections.

(Been there, done that, just finished paying off consumer debts in May, just in time to be unemployed, in my case.)

It's possible she called a neighborhood meeting and everyone who went realized she was a nutter and just went home. If everything is up to code at your house I can't imagine any legal way they could just 'get rid' of you. They can't vote you out of the neighborhood.

Debt collectors cannot legally harrass you with threats of prison, there's no debtor's prison in the US. You can tell them to only contact you by mail and then report them for every phone call they make.

The most they can do is sue you for not paying a debt, I've found when they get ugly like that is as soon as they call advise them on advice of your attorney the call is being recorded, quoting parts of the fair debt collection act and threatening legal action if it continues works like a charm.

As for the neighbors they're flat out nuts, but you can legally have the cars towed off your property, no charge to you and the neighbors will have to pay when they pick the vehicles up, that should at least stop one part of it.

Sounds like you do have a lot of stress do deal with now. My first bit of advice would be to try and breath. With so many things going on it's easy to think that it's some kind of curse, and I can understand why you would feel that the negativity from your neighbors is drawing these sorts of things to you, but that may not be the case. It could just be a series of events that all point to the fact that sometimes, life just sucks.

Debt collectors are asshats, plain and simple. Like others have said, they can't put you in jail. The most they can do is sue you, and/or wreak havoc on your credit score. You should familiarize yourself with the laws about this sort of thing and take steps to pay the debt as soon as you can, but don't let them use illegal tactics to intimidate you.

The bugs, that could just be a coincidence. I don't know what part of the country you live in, but it's pretty normal in my neck of the woods to have loads of creepy crawlies around this time of year. Just last week I discovered a huge spider with a huge egg sack by my front door. If we hadn't found them and put them outside, we'd have had an ugly infestation as well. I would say the same about the flies and earwigs too. Sometimes they get in and before you know it, they're everywhere. Especially if they're nesting in the basement, foundation or places where you wouldn't normally clean on a regular basis. If you can afford it, call an exterminator. If not, there are lots of products on the market that can keep these kinds of pests at bay.

The neighbors are still waging their hate campaign. I don't know what I did to piss them off or why they hate me. They're hateful, vicious, and violent all on their own, but why ME? They're complaining to the city about me. They don't like my yard, so now I have to spend several thousands of dollars putting in new sod. I don't have several thousands of dollars. I'll be lucky if I can pay my mortgage in a couple of days. They're quite serious in their threat to drive me into the street to die.

And I don't know what I can do about it!!!

This is killing me. And I've no recourse. There's nothing I can do.
