I appreciate the fact that there is a forum like this available for newbies like me! I have been on a pagan path for about a year now and have SO much to learn! I look forward to gaining knowledge through the experience of others. I'm still confused on how to use the quote option and I don't know what a bbcode is though! I've read over the quote instructions, but I'm still lost! Can someone help a newbie out?

Welcome to the Cauldron.

BBcode is code that tells the board software how your post should look.  If you click quote/reply on a post you'd like to reply to, you should see something like this:
[quote author=star link=topic=13409.msg222875#msg222875 date=1279593125]

Then you'll have the text of the post you're replying to, and then you'll see this:
[/quote]

Those things in the brackets are the BBcode (specifically, each set of brackets is a "tag").  The first one tells the board software that what follows is a quote, and who is being quoted and what post to link to and when it was posted.  The second one tells it that the quote is finished.

As for how to use the quote function, the main thing is to click quote/reply to reply to a post, and then type your response after that second tag.  If it's a long post or you only want to reply to a specific sentence, you can (and should) delete the parts of the post text that don't apply (as I did when I quoted you, above).  Just be sure that those two tags I described are still in place and intact.

You can get fancier than that, but that's the very basic idea, so if you're finding it confusing it might be best to just stick to that for now.  I hope that explanation helped.  If not, I'm afraid you'll need to be more specific about what's confusing you.  I'd like to help you out, but it's difficult when I don't have a clear idea of what's causing you problems.  Wink
