As many of you know, I've been having a rough time lately with migraines and assorted associated issues.  Including depression.  Chronic pain does that.  So my wonderful husband gave me a gift: two beautiful pieces of Brighid-related jewelry.

One is a new Brighid's cross pendant.  Here's a pic I took, and this is the Etsy listing (with much better pics).  She also has a three-armed version.  The blue stone in my photo is an opal that I happen to have on the same chain.  It's not part of the cross.

The other is a ring with an ogham inscription.  I couldn't get a good pic, so here's the Etsy listing.  The inscription is the Irish word for "relax" (loosely translated) inscribed in ogham.  It's meant to be a reminder about Brighid's protection when I fell down a flight of stairs almost 2 years ago.

I just thought y'all would be interested in these.  Both artists were fantastic to work with.  And both have a LOT of seriously cool pieces in their shops.

This is really beautiful. I particularly like how the cross has a woven look to it.

Thanks for the "feel better"!

The cross actually IS woven. The artist literally weaves flat silver wire just like the crosses are woven out of rushes.  The "ties" on the ends of the arms are also wire wound around the other pieces.  She solders it at strategic points to hold it together, but the solders aren't visible from the front (and barely from the back).

That's why I love this cross -- it's made just like the original rush crosses, but out of silver.   Cheesy

Wow. I don't know much about jewelry making but that sounds like quite a process. It's a wonderful piece and I've never seen anything like it before.

A friend of mine is part of a lay order in the Episcopal Church called The Daughters of the King. The patron saint of her chapter is St. Bridget and many of the members wear pendants of the cross. She has a really nice one, but it's not nearly as well crafted as the one in your pic.
