And now, trying desperately trying to forget star trek V, I find I must explain to my kids why god needs a starship.

"The Cylons destroyed the 12 colonies for your sins" made me laugh until I nearly peed myself.

I just know some friends of mine were in that crowd. Who, I can't say for certain--but I know deep down they were participating. :-)

I suspect some folks I know were too.

Phelps and company picketing any comic or SF/F con is bound to be a field day for the media -- and the Phelps crew will not be getting much of the attention -- but a huge one like San Diego ComicCon?  What were Fred and family thinking?

"Thinking" and "Fred and family" just don't belong in the same sentence.

Unless the sentence is: "I'm thinking that Fred and family should be institutionalized."

My favorite signs:

"Fags are sexy beasts"

"All glory Darkseid is"

"Odin Is God Read The Mighty Thor #5"

and "All glory to the Hypno-Toad" (next to a guy dressed as Bender holding a "Kill all Humans")

One of my friends attending the con has a pic of "Bender" and "Fry" in the main hall at the show. I have a strong sense that Bender had his sign made up for his hall costume well before the counter protest was even a glint in an organizer's eye. :-)
