I've started a group on TCN for the Cill.  I was considering doing that a while ago, as part of fostering connections among Cill members, but then Ning went pay.  Now that we've found a functional platform for TCN - and one with features that I think will serve the Cill well - I decided to go ahead with it.  The real clincher was that it gives us an alternate place to have a calendar - I'm not suggesting giving up our Google calendar, but with Google getting snootier about Browsers That Are Not Named Chrome, having the shift schedule in a non-Google location sounds like a pretty good idea.

It looks like there might be other useful features, too - there's a widget for group bookmarks, and I know we've got a whole bunch of those around here someplace <nudges Moon Ivy>; and another widget for group files which might be handy for some of the group projects we've talked a bit about.

If anyone has a better pic for the group icon, that'd be good - I just grabbed the first non-copyright-infringing one I found (yay Wikipedia), and while it's nice enough, I bet we could do better.

TCN is here, for those of you who haven't joined it yet - I don't think it should be something Cill members have to do, but it does provide another way to develop group connections.

Oo, thanks, Randall - I wanted to use that, but my URL window didn't seem to be differentiating the various TCN pages.  (Or maybe I just looked at it at the wrong time or something.)

Entering events in the calendar is a lot more of a PITA than it is on the Google calendar, but I love the way it shows when I'm done - a very different sort of format, which is great for the way that different folks find different things easier to take in.  I didn't feel like I was having any trouble with GCalendar (of the taking-things-in sort, that is), but I think I'll find this works better for me for being aware of upcoming shifts.  (Or maybe not; my favorite way of not noticing shifts is to know very well when it is right up 'til I go to bed the day before Undecided.  ADHD brain, I haz it.)

And thank you Sunflower for creating the group!  Smiley

And I think I agree with you on the way this calendar looks--very pleasing to my eye too.

It won't. The actual TCN is in an iframe.  http://www.ecauldron.net/tcn.php displays the "raw" TCN in a frame so it looks like it is part of our site. Since it is on the same URL and server, I can make the frame grow/shrink to fit each new page so you will not notice the frame (on most modern browsers, at least).
