I have been reading a lot about offering parts of your meals and such to Hestia in honour of Her.  I am wondering the proper way of doing so, and importantly, what you do with the food after you have offered it to her?  What is the proper way of disposing of it?

Well, there's a little bit of disagreeance on this sometimes. Some people like to burn the offering to her. Others simply maintain its ok to throw it in the trash after offering it to her. Still others have a special place outside they dispose of the offerings. For me I think it is best to keep a special trash bag or can for only offerings that other trash items do not come into contact with. This allows you to keep the offering seperate, almost like creating sacred space for a temenos or other worshipful location.

I'm sure there are probably other ways of dealing with the leftovers after an offering too. For cthonic deities I suppose it might be prudent to bury the offering, but probably not for Hestia, an Olympian.

Thank you very much for the advice.  I will keep a separate trash bag for the offerings since it is inconvenient for me to either burn or bury my offerings.

You're welcome!
Yes, that's what I usually do, that way I don't feel like I'm just trashing the item but I'm not just letting it rot around my home either, ha.

Yeah, I already have an ant problem, so I really don't want to add to it!  And I thought that simply putting it in the trash was a little disrespectful. I am just getting my shrine to Hestia in order and I was reading up on it, but what I have read is awfully vague about offerings and such.  Any other advice?
