How did you find your religion?
I found the religion through this website, actually. I had been toying with the idea of mainly focusing on a Kemetic path, since eclecticism was not cutting it, for quite some time. However for whatever reasons, I had talked myself out of it every time I gave it serious consideration. After having been a member on here for a few months and having interacted with the other Kemetic Recons from TC, it became pretty obvious which path I needed to head in.

Did you adapt to your religion or did you find a religion that already had similar ideology that you already held?
Honestly, it was a little bit of both. I'm sort of used to formality in the fact that I was raised Catholic. However, I'm not used to the daily rituals, the fact that emotions don't tend to become a focus in my rituals, and the offerings on a regular basis thing. On the other hand, I had a lot of personal beliefs that I had adapted and changed over the years due to all of the research on ancient Egypt that I had done.

Just like there are very important things to look for when searching for a deity to interact with, what are the most important things to you when you were searching for your religion?
I was looking for what felt right, for what spoke to me.

I know a lot of people consider deities and religion at least somewhat seperate and I'm becoming more and more of that opinion myself. Also, I've seen a lot of posts asking about how to find patron gods but not nearly as many asking about finding a religion.

So my questions are these:

How did you find your religion?

Did you adapt to your religion or did you find a religion that already had similar ideology that you already held?

Just like there are very important things to look for when searching for a deity to interact with, what are the most important things to you when you were searching for your religion?

My husband and I undertook a long process of discussion and thought about our philosophies. When we had determined, over many months, the details and specifics if what we believed, we went searching for what religion was the best fit and found Celtic Reconstructionism.

That it fit our beliefs was most important, but we were also quite lucky that it fit our preferences as to practice, as well.

How did you find your religion?
I was raised Christian, although I was a closest Pagan. Once I found Wicca, I came out of the closet quicker than you can say "Blessed Be." I was in Germany while serving in the Military and went into this book store and found a book on Wicca. I bought it and read it and I was hooked. I have since gone back to Paganism and am in the process of assisting in the structuring of the new Tradition so to speak.

Although I love Wicca (and Religion in general), it didn't quite fit my evolution. I was finding that nothing did. So, I call myself a Mystic. I am a Spiritual Witch.

I interact with the Christian Deities, the Wiccan Deities, you name it. I have nothing but respect for them all. The most important thing I seek is lack of contradiction. I want to walk with those who walk the walk. Not just talk the talk.

How did you find your religion?

I found Paganism in general through a friend who was raised that way, however I discovered ADF Druidry much later (only about 3 years ago) through Isaac Bonewits. He's pretty local to my area and before he passed he would often spend time at my local Pagan shop. I took his class and afterwards we had a very nice chat about the principles of Druidry, and he gave me a copy of his book.

A little bit of both. I came to Druidry from a very eclectic background, so I did adapt my path to be much more focused on scholarly information. However, the ideologies were still, at their core, similar to what I believed already.

I was honestly looking for something that was more than just religion - I was looking for something that was a way of life.

This will sound awfully silly but oh well.

My family is Icelandic (my fathers side anyways, my mother is French) , so I always had a keen intrest in vikings etc. I'd sit in my schools library for as long as possible and always had numerous books signed out to me. I was and still am literally in love with the culture. I read the Prose Edda/Poetic Edda and then, heres the silly part....Asked a question about worshipping old Norse Gods on "Yahoo! Answers", I got several answers, and one in particular stuck out. So I continued to talk to the person, then I thought about it for a while and it brought me to where I am now. I wouldn't have it any other way.
