It also looks like Tropical Storm Fiona is going in a different direction too.

Great news! Glad you and your family made it through just fine.  Smiley

That's great news.  Hopefully it will miss the east coast of the US as well.

I sure hope so.  I personally don't want to get stuck in the house with these idiots without the internet or TV as a distraction.  And no AC.  And if we still have TV, it will be all the schadenfreude local news media having a giant orgasm for three weeks straight.

It looks like (unless there's a significant and unexpected change in direction) it'll run smack into the Canadian maritimes, though - I'm just hoping it'll lose a lot of force by then.

Now my area is under Earl Watch (with a hurricane warning in the Outer Banks).  It would be a cat 3 when it gets close to us at about 5am Friday morning.

Crap!  Be safe, Mel, and charge up those DS batteries if you have one.

And it stayed off shore.  All we got is some rain an a bit of (weak tropical storm level) wind.

I'm very relieved by the way it's a) not making landfall yet, and b) weakening.  Nova Scotia/New Brunswick are going to get landfall, but it looks like by then it'll be fairly weak.

I am glad people here are safe.  I just hope those affected will be safe as well.

Let's all hope this storm just fizzles out somewhere and doesn't harm anything.

The rain from tropical storm Hermine reached us before I got up this morning. It looks like we are in for a couple of days of rain as the storm track is predicted to be to just west of us and Hermine is slow moving. The dogs are not going to be happy.  But the rain is welcome.

<nod> Haven't been too worried about you folks and Hermine, because everything I've read sounds like she's a relatively beneficient storm as tropicals go.

Which doesn't mean there can't be issues - flooding, f'ex, from too large a volume of rain in too short a time - but it's not nearly as worrisome as some storms.
