Major improvement there. I really think getting rid of the shudder doors between the living room and the kitchen helped, too.

It did. This house has more doors than any house it's size that I've ever seen. And each and every one of the damned things is painted (we have my dad to thank for that!).

Looks great!

Thanks. Smiley

I never realized how dingy the crown moulding was until I saw the before pictures. Granted, it's oil-based paint, so it's going to yellow, but the woodwork really was in need.

What I love is everything is so clean. LOL The room was last painted about 10 years ago, so it was definitely time.

Sadly, I forgot to take "before" pictures again.

Of course, you can see what the counters looked like by going back up to the kitchen...same white laminate. Same atrocious condition except this was really worse. The additives in the water here turned the area around the faucet this hideous pink. And somehow, the sink was an undermount.  The whole thing is out in the garage and I'll try to get pics tomorrow or Monday.

This was supposed to be just a counter/sink/faucet/light install with my dad moving an outlet and making it a double.

Well, it's probably going to turn into my next big project. The kitchen, which I REALLY wanted to get started on, is actually livable. I need to paint a closet door in the living room and then the front door, and that room will be pretty much complete. I was going to move on to the kitchen, but after seeing the aftermath of the blue paint on the paneling behind the counter and the rot under the window, I think I'm going to have to start in here. (The guest bath will be much the same only with PINK paint on the paneling and minus the rot...hopefully.)

I hate this room. Every house has a room that's hard to deal with, and this one is mine. It's a 10' x 7' hell hole masquerading as a bathroom.

So over the next few weeks, it's going to be painting, repairing the paneling, figuring out a window covering and tackling a linen closet (you can't see it, but it was the first fuck up in this room from five years ago, and the reason I will NEVER try to move to water-based enamel over oil-based enamel ever again.)

So stay tuned. You'll probably hear the wailing, tearing of hair, and gnashing of teeth from where you are. I'm seriously not looking forward to this.
