I want to let you all know about a new booklet that has just been published.  Brighid and Me: Experiences with the Goddess was compiled from contributions written by Brighid devotees from around the world, including me (under the pseudonym "Breo").

It can be ordered from this website.  Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Alzheimer's Society (in the UK).

I've read some of the contributions and really enjoyed them.  We have so much in common, and so much to learn from each other!

Wow, that is really cool.
I think that interacting and exchanging (and networking) is something often neglected.

This book looks really good!  I love how the organization is donating to Alzheimer's Society, very Brighid-like, Smiley

It's actually not an organization.  This booklet was something put together completely by one woman, Hollee Swann, who felt that Brighid had called her to do this.  She did all the work of collecting contributions and editing, and had it printed locally.

It's not a big book, but well worth the roughly $7.15 US (+ shipping).  IMHO, anyway...  Cheesy

On a personal level, it has been very inspiring to me to participate and to watch this one person make it happen.  I've always been that kind of person in my professional life, but lately I've allowed the medical crap to keep me down.  That needs to change somehow.

I'm sort of mulling over a possible way to build on the booklet -- or maybe start a new project here, if anyone is interested.  If Hollee can accomplish a wonderful booklet in just a few months, what else could we Brighid-people do if we put our minds to it, right?

I'm so glad people are interested!  It's not an expensive booklet -- although I COMPLETELY understand how every penny counts these days.  But if you have the money available, I think it's definitely a good addition to your Brighid library.  It's a bit different from all the other books that include info on Brighid, because it's specifically about the relationships that real, live people have with Brighid.  It's not a history book, although some of the writers do talk about Brighid's history or about Brighid-related traditions they grew up with.

In some ways, many of the contributions in the booklet bear similarities to the kinds of stories we read here often about people being called by Brighid, or other deities.  (Those of you who have been at TC for a while will likely recognize my story, which is placed last in the booklet.)  It was interesting to me to read the variety of perspectives.  There is also quite a bit of great, Brighid-related poetry and art, which is always a treasure to find.  And a few resources listed at the end -- I haven't looked at them closely, though, so I don't know yet if there's anything we don't already know about.

And, as Dara said, it's wonderful to see the proceeds go to something important.

I do too. My granny has very advanced Alzheimer's, so I definitely feel compelled to buy it on more than one level.

Well, if you recall, the SIG leaders had been floating something like that around as a potential 5-year-anniversary project. On a purely personal note, I've been contemplating putting together a small chapbook of my Brighid and Flamekeeping poetry just for my own pleasure and devotion. It would be fantastic if the TC Cill could collect together other devotional material and make a book.

I do vaguely remember the idea of the Cill putting together some kind of booklet -- and I love the idea and hope to participate.  But I wasn't necessarily thinking of another booklet.   Smiley

Just random musings at this point, but I was thinking about a project that is more about contributing to the community (whatever community).
