I came home from work last night and found my Hethert statue in a very upsetting condition. She's still standing on her little platform, but the area of her ankles/calves as been broken so that you can see the skeleton of the statue. There's about a three cm gap where the break is. I was wondering if there's a way I could fix this...? Has anyone else had this problem with a statue before? I was hoping to save her from a burial in the pale moon light.  Sad

What is the statue made of, first of all?

I once had a cat knock over a statue, but it didn't hurt it. And the terra cotta Hotei is still kicking, sans a few toes.

Depending on what the statue is made of, you maybe can fix it with some kind of clay.
Real one or polymer, there is this air drying stuff around, that might work. And there is this heavy duty adhesive material. Almost like polymer clay and it gets really solid once it dried.

Can you post a picture of the break?  That may help people figure out what to do.

The Husband and I were discussing it and it looks like the statue is forever broken. If that's the case, I need to know how to dispose of it properly. However, in the mean time, the statue is made of resin and here are pictures:

Would it be possible to drape the statue with some kind of fabric to cover the break (sort of like she's wearing a sari)?

(I have no idea what the appropriate protocol is in your path, so I apologize if it's offensive in some way to continue to use a defective representation of deity.  No offense intended.)

I don't think she'd be happy with that. Honestly, I get the feeling that she's miffed about the whole thing, but not upset about it, you know? I don't think she'll be happy until I get a new representation. Le sigh.

(I know! It's okay and I appreciate the suggestion!)

I kinda had the same feeling when I was writing that, but decided to send it anyway, just in case.

I know how upsetting it is to have something like this happen, even when it's totally not your fault.  I hope you can replace the statute soon.

I just did. I did some comparison shopping and since it's not a big bill week, I have more left over than normal. Thank the gods.
