In the 20th edition she says she would like to acknowledge her teachers including Z. Budapest. I don't know wether she actually trained with her or just learnt form her but I see how it could be taken either way. It was just in the intro so it wasn't really designed for information.

Teacher can mean many things...including just having a casual conversation or reading something the other person wrote.

It doesn't always mean a formal teacher-student relationship or even involve the 'teacher's tradition.

We have a saying in the Dianic Tradition that I follow. The Feminine Divine speaks in all voices. Listen and learn.

Which makes everyone that one encounters in whatever way that occurs into one of your teachers.

Maybe I just jumped to conclusions from reading the above cited passage, then, since a lot of the book is concerned with feminist politics, which are more characteristic of Dianic Witchcraft than Feri Tradition.
And a few other subclasses of politics as well - environmentalism-related political action is another that's strongly represented.  I'd say that has less to do with Starhawk's experiences in connection with Z's Dianic path, and more to do with Reclaiming as it had already developed at the time TSD was written; political activism of a particular stripe is integral to, and a defining quality of, that tradition, beyond even the political aspects of Feminist Dianic.
