Readability Guidelines

Guess it's true that the Cauldron's not like other forums -- can't find a list of forums on the Home page, can't figure out how to start a new thread. Managed to get to this forum by clicking on random things and decided this topic is most closely related.

Aside from those problems, I came to the forum because the link to the pagan e-cards is broken AND the spam blocker on the Report Site Problems page just shows one of those cute red Xs in the box with the instructions.

I'd really appreciate (1) fixed link & spam blocker, and (2) some navigation instructions for the forums. Maybe one of the staff could e-mail me those as I have no idea how I got here in the first place and thus can't trust that I'll got back for replies.

Thanks, y'all

I've brought #1 to the attention of the Hosts.  As for #2, I'll reply on-forum as well as in an e-mail just in case the reply will help someone else as well.  I'm very sorry that you've had such trouble, but hopefully we can get it straightened out.

The forum list is found here:
http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?action=forum

Within the SMF forum software (i.e. any part of the message board), this is accessible by clicking "Forum" in the dark blue menu bar at the bottom of the top block that displays your user name and time logged in.  In other areas of the site, you will need to click on "Forum" in the top menu bar (under the Cauldron logo) or any link to a message board thread in order to get to the message board before you can navigate to the forum list.

When viewing a thread, there will also be a line above the message list indicating your position.  It looks something like this:
The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum > Forum > About The Cauldron > Cauldron Announcements > Re: How to Post Readable Messages
You can click any of the items in that list to return to it.

To start a new thread, first navigate to the forum you wish to start a thread in.  From there, look at the top right-hand corner of the thread list.  There should be another dark blue menu bar.  The second item from the right should be "New Topic".  Clicking this will create a new thread.  If you do not see the "New Topic" button, you probably do not have permission to post new threads on that forum, although there shouldn't be very many of those areas left for most posters anymore.  With only a couple of exceptions, you should be able to post new topics in any forum you can see.

I hope that helped.  If you have further questions or need clarification on any of this, please just ask and I'll do my best to answer.

I moved this to a new thread.

For info on using this forum, you might want to try the Forum help. As this is an SMF forum, it's actually fairly useful (compared to the help on some forums. The list of boards is on the "Forum" link in the top blue menu (on a forum page).

The link to the pagan ecards works. Unfortunately, the third-party site that actually provides the cards only works when it feels like working. Sad

The spam blocker image link we use on our site forms does not work in some older browsers. Unfortunately, the choice is to use the spam blocker on the form even though it does not let people using some browser through or put up with 100+ spam messages a day.
