I usually make an appearance--I wonder if I'll be working the next day?  Tongue

Regardless, I'll be around for a little while anyway!

That's a really good idea, methinks. I'll try to stay up all night! ^_^ Totally different time zones, but whatever.

Mithril, no worries on the time zones; in fact, that's one of the great things about our "Up All Night" solstice celebration here: Via those first postings from the Old World (usually European members), experiencing the march of darkness across the Northern Hemisphere.

I love it as members chime in one by one to announce that sunset has hit their locale, and their long, dark night has begun. It builds my own anticipation for my own Night of Nights to begin!

<nodnod>

I'm not sure if it'll work for me to be up the whole night this year, but I'm definitely in for however much of it I can do!

Yeah, I'll just miss the second half of most everybody's night. That was mostly what I was referring to.

Oh, don't sweat that; the instant the sun rises the next day, I say my farewells online and wish everyone still in darkness a great rest of their night, and then I hit the sack and clock out in seconds. The last 2 hours of the vigil can be brutal, and when they're over, I'm sleeping no matter what!

And whose up for it this year?

I'm scheduled to work the next day, so I probably won't do more than drop in to say hi before I shuffle off to bed.

Here's one idea: photos. We could encourage folks to document the solstice in their area, or just to share whatever photos they might think appropriate to the longest night.
I'll be here, although I do have to work the next day at 8... so who knows how long I'll make it! I've done work on about 3 - 4 hours of sleep and made it ok, so we'll see. lol.

And I do like the pictures idea! Smiley

Hey, everybody,

YAY!!!  I look forward to this every year!  Well, every of the last three years, and I was just thinking it was coming up before too long!

I love the idea of sharing photos (photos of mug cakes, maybe? teehee!)  I think photos of the sun setting, photos of the flames we're tending, all of that would be super cool.

In that spirit, to get us warmed up for the solstice photo exchange, here are photos (lots of them!) from my recent pagan pilgrimage to the Himalyan mountains:
