So, Sarah Palin tells Barbara Walters that she's seriously considering running in 2012, AND that she "can beat Obama".
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/sarah-palin-thinking-running-president-tells-barbara-walters/story?id=12170631

The problem with this is that Palin has to get the nomination from the Republicans, and I am not sure she can do that. So, for her to say that she can definitely beat Obama is being rather arrogant. Secondly, even as disillusioned as Americans are with the job Obama has done so far, I don't think we're all quite crazy enough to jump on the Tea Party bandwagon and switch to supporting a woman who couldn't even finish her term as Gov. of Alaska because the heat was too much.

Palin is a guarantee of a second term for Obama.

Off topic, but I was sat here for a good several seconds staring at the title thinking you were talking about a Russian dictator. Then I realised. Gosh, so thick sometimes. Roll Eyes

Confusing the two is an insult to Putin (I assuming that's who you're thinking of).

Yeah, it was. Cheesy I really need help today. As I looked at the title of this thread in my replies I read it as 'pain is delusional' and was like lolwut don't remember replying to this... Get your act together boy. Roll Eyes

Anyway, that's enough from me. Not wishing to derail the thread anymore and all that... Cheesy

The Republican politicians who speak about Palin at all say things like, "She's important to the party," and "She is integral to our team," without speaking in support of her.  I would like to think that everyone realizes she'd be a train wreck, but am not certain enough of the American people (sad statement, I know.)

The thing that frightens me is the idea that she would get the nomination...and that there are enough delusional voters out there to actually elect her.

^^That was Nick's dog chiming in. She's not a Palin fan either, lol.

I would HOPE that no one would fall for Palin's crap. However, I learned a long time not to think too highly of the intelligence of large numbers of Kool-Aid drinkers Tea Partiers.

And given my choice of Palin or Putin for US President, I'd take Putin. He may be a KGB thug at heart, but at least he's competent and has actual government leadership and foreign policy experience. And he doesn't quit. In fact, getting him to actually leave power is a bit of a problem. Smiley

I can see Palin getting the Republican nomination as the Far Right/Tea Party types control the Republican primaries. I suspect she'd lose big in the general election just as McGovern did when the far left nominated him in 1972. Her fans would vote for her, everyone else would not.

Yup. She IS important their party because they remind people of just how much of a "goshderned"(sorry, I had to, that's Palinese, btw)3 ring circus she is. There are people out there dumb enough to vote for her, but she doesn't have even close to enough to win the election. Like I said, I'm no Obama fan, but if she ends up with the nomination....he wins by default. Frankly, I don't like ANYONE in Washington right now.

Yeah.  Palin comes from my neck of the woods.  We are NOT happy about who she's turned out to be.  Not at all.

Really not suprised. It's always embarrassing when you have to admit that someone that idiotic comes from where you are from. We have lots of those......

Shocked Lips sealed
And I thought having Martha Stewart share my birthday was bad (and she doesn't even have any geographical connections to me AFAIK).  You have my very sincere sympathy.

He, Kent Hovind, aka Dr. Dino of the various creationist stuff, went to my high school and actually credits the same science teachers I had with his science education.  Mr. Beckman and the others are turning over in their graves. My high school was better than Mr Hovind presents it.

This reminds me of a guy that used to be on PW (over on About). He was posting that water had an extra element and no one knew why it was wet.
