Hello,
I have been lurking here for a bit and finally decided to join. Smiley
I have been a pagan for almost 20 years and my recent connection with Brighid is strongly reminding me of how I felt my first year as a pagan, before I had so much upheaval in my life that I lost that connection.
After having a baby 2.5 years ago I stumbled onto a kitchen/hearth path and did not recognize it until I began reading about it more and I have also felt even more pulled towards Brighid inexplicably.
In The past I felt attracted to her but it was no more or less than a few other deities.I get a very warm, personal, maternal vibe from her.
I am hoping you all can share how you met Brighid and decided to deepen the relationship and maybe how it felt to you, that connection.
I apologize if I have missed a thread on this topic.
Nice to meet everyone Grin

Hello,
I have been lurking here for a bit and finally decided to join. Smiley

Welcome, Treecat!  Smiley

I'm glad to hear you're interested in others' experiences of Brighid: feel free to read the threads here in the SIG as you like.

I just want to mention that while this SIG has become the main place to discuss our relationships and intereactions with Brighid, it was created to be a place for discussion and interaction among members of The Cauldron's Brigidine Cill (more info here).

This doesn't mean that only members are supposed to be in here--no way! In fact, we have a ton of people jumping in and joining us in our conversations all the time (and sometimes they end up joining our Cill too!  Cheesy)

It can be a little overwhelming to see so many threads, but perhaps starting here will help you:

I am thinking of joining the CIL but I do not want to do so in a rash way Grin.Just curious if others experiences of finding the path are similar to mine.
Thanks, I will check out your links!

I sort of, actually. When I think of Brighid (or I think of the energy She has/is), it's a warm thing, depending on what Aspect I'm focusing on. It's the family hearth, warm baking bread, good meals, that loving, maternal presence. It's not the only one, though. There's a part of Her that's roaring flames, or the part of Her that beats metal upon the anvil until the desired shape. (Or, as one book puts it: "forgefire, hearthfire, wildfire") I haven't been working with Brighid for long, but She's definitely poked me rather incessantly to pay attention to Her. So, word to the wise: Pay attention when She's talking to you. Cheesy

Thank you for your input, I totally get the warm hearth and bread baking aspect, but I will definitely pay attention if there are any roaring flames! Wink

Welcome, Treecat.

I'm a long-time Brighid girl, and I've posted a LOT about my journey.  Just search the forum for "Brighid" and you'll end up with about 20 pages of threads.   Shocked  (And, just FYI, you'll see a poster named "Moon Ivy" referred to many times in those threads.  That used to be my screen name.)  There are lots of folks here on TC who have relationships with Brighid, including a couple of us who are dedicated exclusively to Her.  Besides the Cill SIG, there's also a lot in the God and Goddesses folder, and other various folders.  But, as Finn says, the Cill is a great place to start.

Do you have specific questions?

Nice to meet you Aster! Nothing specific, just curious about what people experiences with Brighid early on were like...

Hello Treecat! Welcome! Smiley

To answer your question regarding her:

She has been in the background of my life off and on for about ten years, quietly pulling me every time I go back toward paganism. She always quietly calls me at times when She knows I will listen. Times of change ("fluidity" is the word that pops into my mind) or planning to change come to mind. Before I got pregnant with each of my children, and soon after.

I have only really begun to pay Her attention in the past month or so.

My experience with Her is similar to that of others. She is VERY patient. She is reserved. She waits for the right time to pop in, to speak. (This time, She brought the Morrigan along with Her to help me out!) She is definitely motherly in the kind way. She isn't the take-charge female that tM is, but she does have boundaries. I see the color blue when I think of Her. She just wants me to learn right now. Quietly learn. No dedication, no rushing. Just gentle movement toward Her.

She is a wonderful Goddess to be around, and I do wish you the best.  Grin

I'm thrilled to have seen your post with these links, Finn. I've been floundering around for months trying to find scholastic resources on Brigid as well as websites. Now I can eagerly add a dozen new titles to my book list! Thanks for the links and thanks also to the original posters of these threads and others' contributions.
