I have the perfect table in my room for an alter.

The problem I am having is that I do not worship any gods. I use the energy from the things around me. (nature/earth magic)?

I have no clue what I would put on my alter, or if there is any need to even have one since I don't worship gods.

I'm confused lol

Altars (or shrines) can be used for more than worshiping gods. What does you religious practice entail? What beliefs are important to you?

If you don't want one, don't get one.  Wink Although, since you work with earth magic you could put bits and pieces from outside on your altar to remind you of the seasons. Crisp leaves for autumn, fruit and flowers for the summer and so on.

Might be worth doing some definitions - I consider (along with a bunch of dictionaries and other resources) that an altar is a working tool for ritual, and a shrine is a place where you honor the Gods (or spirits of place, or elemental forces - a *someone* sort of sense). A given space can be one, both, or of course, neither.

I usually have current ongoing magical workings out (the prosperity statue for the ongoing job working, candles for opening up possibilities, etc.) and sometimes seasonal items. I also have devotional items for the Gods I work with and honor regularly, but where they're placed depends a lot on what's going on at the moment: right now, the more dominant imagery is about self-awareness and other patterns and tendencies I'm re-examining.

Place some nature on that table! You can put some candles up there, as well, probably a natural beeswax candle or two to light for various prayers and whatnot. You can put anything you really want on that altar that you feel has meaning in your religion.

I haven't worked with gods either (until very very recently), and I've never had anything god related on my altar. I have something in each corner to represent the four elements, a shell in the middle to burn incense in (to represent spirit), and whatever stones/gems/materials that relate to the work I'm doing right then. It's pretty plain, but it works for me! Smiley

I'd start with, what makes you feel more powerful?  I'd add stone, herbs, colors, and such that make you not only feel comfortable, but make you want to do magic.

Gems, pretty stones you find outside, flowers, feathers, greenery or plants, a bowl of water, a nice pillar candle, shells, a bowl of sand, fruits, homemade potpourri or oranges with cloves in them, bits of wood you pick up on your walks, nuts, etc.
The possibilities are endless.
