(Might x-post to certain lists I've mostly been lurking on, if I get brave...)

In considering how to fit a Recon practice into a modern life, it occurred to me that maybe I should be thinking about incorporating some sort of hero recognition.  I know that this was done in ancient Greece, and finding modern heroes to recognize feels like an appropriate way to connect the ancient foundation I'm building on with my modern life.

Problem is, I have not a clue what I'm doing here.  I know that heroes were worshipped to some degree; I don't have a good feel for how, or the context, or what determined who made the list, or anything.  So...  I was hoping that people here might have some suggestions as to resources I could consult.  Reliable books much preferred (I'm overdue for some scholarly religious reading and have a handy university library to draw on), but I'll take what I can get.   Wink
