I've seen the heavy discussion going on lately on the Definitions of Paganism thread, so as an antidote (and to let off some steam) I propose the following game: one poster makes a sentence comparing "paganism" to some random concrete object; the next poster must somehow justify the comparison, and then propose a new one.

For example, if poster A writes, "paganism is like a tennis ball", then poster B could write, "...because it's fluffy around the edges."

I'll start us off with:

Paganism is like a watermelon.

Paganism is like a watermelon.

Because it has many seeds (The Gods) that are apart of a general whole.  But if the seeds are removed (worshiping just the elements or Jungian Archetypes) then you removed it's origins.

I know, it's not that funny--but it's the best I can think of.

How about:

Paganism is like a mailbox

Because it contains responsibilities/homework (bills), things that we've been waiting/working(?) for (prezzies!), and junk (fill-in-the-blank Wink).  And we don't get to control everything that goes into it.

Paganism is like a pair of socks...

It's often advertised as one size fits all, but it's not. And some popular varieties have British/Celtic origins (Argyle).

Some trees are huge and beautiful, others are saplings with promise.  And some are covered in rot and probably ought to be burtnt to protect the forest. Cheesy

It takes everything in, throws most of it out, and sometimes collects some grain.

Paganism is like a crowbar

Because it can cause some things (people) to get bent out of shape.

Paganism is like a basketball.

If it didn't have lines, some would call it an orange, although I'd like to see them try to eat it.
