If 20 is ancient, I don't want to know what I am. I turn 50 this year.

This is what I do best with, my forays into moving meditation have offered some interesting results but not the clarity that I get with sitting meditation. I guess it just really depends on who you are as to what suits you best.

Just like everything else in life it seems, no one way will work for everyone (which is probably a good thing, but then it means more time figuring out which way is the one for you Roll Eyes).

If I can ask, when you're doing sitting meditation, do you use a certain method (say looking at a flame or counting breaths for example) in order to calm your thoughts and turn off the "brain chatter"? My inability to turn off/filter out this endless flow of thoughts when just sitting still has been the reason for my lack of sucess with this method.

I focus on my breathing. Feeling my lungs expand as my ribs move up and out to pull in the new air, feeling the new oxygen invigorate my body. Then feeling the opposite as the breath leaves your lungs. After a while you no longer have to consciously focus on breathing and the mental quiet just comes.

Aren't ancestor spirits usually dead?  As a matter of tradition, y'know? Wink

I would say one of my biggest projects at the moment is to get my spiritual life back on track. Over the summer break I stayed with my parents and went to their church and everything. It really made me wonder if what I was doing was right and was trying to make myself fit back into their Christian frame of mind. It wasn't working and I finally realised two Sundays ago it will never work. So now I'm getting back into what I stopped doing during the summer. (ie rituals, researching, praying to the Netjeru)

Also, as an off to the side project, I'm teaching myself how to read tarot cards.

Well, I'm trying to get into meditating again, and I'm working on defining my path.
I'm also trying to learn to see auras and utilize my empathy better-I can only sense strong emotions from people I know-because I think this will help with my tarot/psychic practices.

At the moment, I'm also doing journeywork (my spirit guide has vanished...eurgh!) and shamanic-like drawings.

Since I have a week off school, I'm hoping to also get some reading done and maybe a set of prayer beads.

I'm executing a Tarot Deck based on my stream's cosmology. This should take a couple of years. The really good part is that I'm working with a spectacular artist.

Helo All,

Right at this second I am researching on the gods and goddesses. When I started witchcraft, I concertrated on the rituals, and all the fancy things. I took the winter, and part of the summer off from everything after i got upset over the fact that we just created the gods. But i picked up a book a pagan at a book store told me to buy a year or so ago a month ago and starting to rekindle my interest. It's called "God/goddess" by A.J Drew and Patricia Telesco. It has answer my qustions about whats the perpose of myths, Why there are so many gods and goddess, and many more qustions that sound easy to exsplain, but my mind just couldn't think of a corect answer.  Does anyone else have thoes kind of qustions? I also had a hard time trying not to be skeptic. I'll ask my self about astral travel, and i've tried it, but my mind keeps saying stuff like it's just your brain fooling you. Its a reason why i just stoped. I can't take the qustions.

I also just put up a little altar. It's just a little wooden tray table with a silk, old cloth i bought at yard sale ontop of it. It had my BoS, and just little things to represent water, a shell, Air, a wooden flute, Fire, Incense, Earth, Some little rocks i bought at a cavern place we walked around in. I'm not sure why, but after i threw it together it made me happy?

Hugs and Kisses,
Asria

Ok people, time for some education here. Tell me about prayer beads. I honestly know nothing about them. Sad but true.  Embarrassed

My current project is just research. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on. Also I'm getting to know my tarot deck. Spending time with each of the cards so I can figure out what they mean to ME and then work that in with the traditional interpretations for a better reading.

All the sun long it was running, it was lovely, the hay
Fields high as the house, the tunes from the chimneys, it was air
And playing, lovely and watery
And fire green as grass,
And nightly under the simple stars
As I rode to sleep the owls were bearing the farm away,
All the moon long I heard, blessed among the stables, the nightjars
Flying with the ricks, and the horses
Flashing into the dark.

I think there's a thread on prayer beads in another part of the forum.  Besides that, you may want to visit the following sites:
