Welcome back! Smiley

'You had to repay, good or bad. There was more than one type of obligation. Thatís what people never really understood.Ö.Things had to balance. You couldnít set out to be a good witch or a bad witch. Are there ethical implications in using crystals? And do you have any suggestions on how to resolve my opposing feelings on it?

I do believe there are ethical implications in using anything.
People have contributed good ideas on this thread.
Another possible way to use crystals without directly contributing to mining is to buy crystals secondhand. I just bought a huge chunk of pyrite and another huge chunk of quartz from a yard sale.
Indirectly, I am still encouraging mining by collecting crystals. But I didn't actually pay the mine for the crystal--or any rock dealer. The people who owned it before just wanted more room in their garage.  Thrift shops can also carry minerals--I bought a necklace completely strung with large, round, beads of malachite once at Goodwill.
